Hmm. You like ambient music? Interesting.
Sparklehorse aren't ambient overall (I dunno wtf they are) but they've had some run-ins with the genre. Example:
That there is Mark Linkous' attempt to transcribe the sound he apparently heard while briefly dead (drug overdose).
Other than that, you might want to check out the Homeworld OST.
Lots of songs like that.
Both of those are pretty good, i listened to that first one all the way through, despite having so much to go through right now ^^

I think you will like this, classic ambient Drum and Bass from the early 90's.
Mixed By the well known Andy C when he was only 15 years old.
Also, you can't go wrong with a bit of Massive Attack.
If you want something a bit more heavier with a Techno/Hardcore vibe to it, got you covered.
The first ones not bad, hes a little happy with that rising sparkly noise (as i call it) ...i definately like it ^^ ...whats this about a long, dark tunnel though?
Massive Attack, ive definitely heard plenty of their stuff, i dont own any of it, ive never been sure why... Both them and Portished are good but... i dunno... i should really get some albums >.>
Techno/Metal and 'Hardcore Techno' is a no-go. it just blends into noise and... yeah, i dont get much out of it.

Do ya like Goa trance? I have a fair bit of that in between my piles of metal.
I really prefer bass and melody focused bands, i guess.
hmmmmmm... This is stuff idve loved years ago...
Under Your Mind still sounds good though, reminds me of 'round Shaped Green Chair Made of Resin' ...no chance of finding that on youtube xD
Chain Algorithm too, but yeah... idve absolutely loved this back in... 2005? no, 2006... i was listening to loads of stuff like this, all the time... i remixed a lot of it too... but i was 15... ehe...

Eisenfunk are an industrial/techno-y band, as are Straftanz. Two Steps From Hell and X-Ray Dog generally do trailer music and the last one is Michael McCann's 'Icarus' {the main theme from Human Revolutions.}
The 3rd one reminds me of Fable 1... a lot >.> well, at least it the beginning, its gets very dramatic as it builds... its so close to forming that WoW:BC login screen, but God of War memories keep pushing it back... i generally dont like dramatic trailer music kind of stuff, but the beginnings really good.
The 5th, is... well its still building as i type...
...its good, yeah pretty good... if anything, a little dramatic-trailer-y, but the electronic style keeps that back...
Phew, thats everything!
Lots of great suggestions >.> i never expected so many i hadnt heard of
