Ant-Man will now follow a mere 2 months after Avengers 2. While this may be Marvel's attempt to ensure a film based on character of questionable popularity stays in the public conscience by tying it in with its major tentpole event, the strategy, I think, might backfire as it asks too much of audiences already indicating fatigue with action-crammed summers.

Thoughts?

We'll see what happens after Phase 2 of the Marvel Movie-Verse.
This kinda counting your eggs before they hatch, if something occurs before then, then of course future plans will change.

Thoughts? That 2015 is going to be the year the Hollywood bubble pops, that a lot of people are going to lose a lot of money, a lot of people will be fired and maybe if we're lucky we'll get another "New Hollywood" situation. Not just for this but Batman vs Superman, Jurassic Park 4, Independence Day 2, Pirates of the Caribbean 5, Star Wars Episode VII, Assassin's Creed, Hunger Games, Fantastic Four. That's 10 movies all of which are going to have ridiculously bloated budgets and maybe 3 or 4 will meet their box office expectations. Hopefully they all lose a metric fuck ton of money and this obsession with the summer blockbuster can finally come to an end.
I'm pretty sure all of this happens one way or another every year. It's never going to end. Just shape-shift.

I doubt it'll hurt. That being said, I don't particularly care for Ant-Man, so if it bombs I won't shed any tears.

You're looking at it all wrong. Ant-Man is debuting two months after Averngers 2, instead of before Avengers 2! Does this mean Ant-Man won't be in Avengers 2? or will Avengers 2 waste time telling his origins and "why I joined the team" stories, only to tell them again in his own movie?

It's of course all speculation, informed speculation but that hardly makes it concrete. It just looks like Hollywood might be in a bit of trouble. Sorry for rambling.
Ah but it's speculation from a man wearing a very cunning hat. It therefore can't be wrong.

Sadly, the dim-witted masses who need to eat buttered popcorn out of a bulldozer scoop will flip out over these films and rush to them en-masse. Remember all the anger people had in the days leading up to Into Darkness' release when we found out the villain was Khan, like they said it wouldn't be? That REALLY drove away the crowds that well made up the budget plus some $40 million... oh wait.

People don't care about substance or expectations anymore. They care about branding more than anything. If they were to announce an ET remake tomorrow and reveal the director is Uwe Boll and have a trailer where Steven Spielberg outright screams "Don't go see it, it'll be shit," people would STILL go see it! The studio doesn't care about film reviews or audience reactions anymore, they they care about the ticket in your hand. And so long as a film has a big name people can recognize, people will go to see it.

I doubt Marvel is going to produce a flop anytime soon. I'm not so sure about Batman Vs Superman though... But I'm sure Marvel is very confident on Ant-Man and I think it will be amazing.

I doubt it. That being said I doubt I will see it when it comes out. I have seen all of the movies so far, even Captain America (which I was indifferent to before seeing it and indifferent to after seeing it) and I intend to see Thor 2, Cap America 2 and guardiens (and of cause Age of Ultron) but I just don't like Ant-man.

Plus I am still pissed that Ant-man is coming before Doctor Strange who is so much more awesome than Ant-man.

Hmmm... I thought the Antman flick would come out first, introduce Ultron and set him up for being the villain for Avengers movie 2. Maybe they are changing his origins, no longer created by Hank Pym?

Anyway, hope this movie is decent. Antman is a bit lame, but shrinking/growing powers could be pretty cool onscreen. And I like the idea that he's a pacifist hero, who builds a superintelligent iron-man robot to do the fighting for him until it goes all Skynet.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm still waiting for a Marvel movie that focuses on a superheroine. The last movie that did that was, I think, Elektra, and before people point out how terrible the movie was being a reason no one's done it since, may I remind you about Daredevil and 2005 Hulk and Superman Returns?

Actually, I think the last one may have been Catwoman and I can see that killing most prospects...

I'd never heard of Ant-man before Movie Bob mentioned him as an upcoming Avenger.

Then again, I was barely aware of any of the current Avengers prior to the Marvel movies either, so... there's that.

OT: Honestly, I wouldn't mind having more than one Marvel movie in the same summer. Considering the other movies opening that same summer... yeah, having another Marvel movie will help make it less awful.
