Well I am yet to buy Multi-Racial Ops and I agree that perhaps too much emphasis is placed on multiplayer. However I completely understand why emphasis is put on online multiplayer; and I will probably get the game when I have access to Xbox Live. So as intriguing as your capitalised boycott may be I'm afraid I'll have to pass for now.

You see, where I'm from (a small town in West of Ireland) we don't even have a CINEMA in our town, and it RAINS a hell of a lot.
So what do us guys do? Play computer games.
And when MW2 was released last year, what did every 2nd sentence contain? "Kills, Deaths, Game, Headset, N00B, Yank"
Don't get me wrong, MW2 was a GREAT game.
However, I kept on going back to the single-player, while my PSN was being spammed with game invites.
Many people said to me "WHY ARE YOU PLAYING SINGLE PLAYER?!?"
(It shows what you're doing while you're player MW2 on PS3)
To which I respond:
"Not playing an unskilled, unbalanced, glitchy, hacker-target multiplayer"
Rant over.

Don't get me wrong, MW2 was a GREAT game.

I on the other hand will be enjoying the multiplayer. (Playing it right now and its awesome)

Is it balanced?

Is it fun?

Is it better than MW2...you know, no glitches and stuff?

So far I've only done two matches, so I'll answer the best I can.

Haven't played enough, but so far so good.
I think it is.
Haven't encountered any glitches or hacks yet and its much better than MW2.

So buy it for single player, or dead ops, or zombies, or combat training. Obviously the focus is still on multiplayer as that is what this particular game series is focused on, but honestly this game has more included in it to try and market to those who don't want to play online against those will undoubtedly find something to abuse or hack than any of the previous incarnations in the cod series.

Note - not saying you must get it for any of these reasons just that its more single player friendly than previous ones which is a bonus considering the ps3 is more prone to hackers than in the past.

Uh, where is the beginning for you? Both CoD 1 and 2 had absolutely amazing campaigns and 3 wasn't terrible.

I'm boycotting this game as well, but for slightly more noble reasons. I know it won't do anything, but I seriously dislike any company that thinks it can just pump out what is relatively the same game over and over and that I'm gonna buy it every single year. I mean, even Halo waits a little while.

Actually, Black Ops's single-player mode is pretty good, I personally found it more enjoyable than MW2's.

It has some excellent set pieces, some pretty intense moments, the fact your character speaks now makes you feel more involved in the story and genuinely I thought the story was way more intriguing than MW2's and perhaps even CoD4's. It's still got some issues though - it is quite over-the-top (though it fits better in the context of Black Ops than MW2), the friendly AI is pathetic, often completely ignoring enemies right next to them, it still loves to kill you with annoyingly cheap deaths and sometimes it's quite unclear what you have to do.

Oh, and they fixed grenade spam. Even on Veteran they won't throw them anywhere near as frequently, and they don't have the absurd grenade throwing accuracy that they used to.

sure, its bad that games choose to focus all on their multiplayer and neglect story, but at some point you become like a hippie douchebag who boycotts Wal Mart because its "big".

im not saying you do, because you don't, but you don't have to start a boycott. besides, you think this is going to stop the game from selling 7 million copies before the end of the week? no chance.

just don't play the game, like i didn't play any Call of Duty game ever (i kinda thought this might happen). Yeah, it would be great if your boycott actually had some impact on the publishers and made them make more games with fun single-player gameplay (PROTOTYPE 2 PLEASE!)

but really, you're kinda fighting an unwinnable war AND preaching to the choir (a lot of the Escapist hates Modern Warfare ever since it was perceived as a "sell-out")
