Alright, I can understand them being on most TV channels, I don't have a problem. Certain websites even, sure. But as of 10 seconds ago they have gone too far in my book.

Ok, it's almost midnight where I am and I just remembered "AWESOME! New One Piece!" so I go to the site I watch it at and hit play. I'm used to seeing a Verizon or Sprint ad. But what comes up? That's right folks, a kid friendly DON'T DO METH.
Now, I understand that we need to be teaching kids not to do meth, but ONE PIECE!? Has it gotten so bad that their putting Anti-Meth ads on anime websites run by Funimation? I mean, the target audience of the dubbed episodes probably doesn't even know what meth IS. And how is seeing a commercial with a girl talking all depressing and dumping a body out of her car going to benefit them? I mean come ON. These commercials are on every damn channel. A shit ton of websites. But now their going to strike a children's anime? I just couldn't believe it.

And yes, I realize I'm saying I watch what I would call a childish anime, but it was WAY more intended for 7 year olds when it first started. And guess what's dubbed on that site? The older episodes. I just think it's ridiculous. What are your thoughts?
Don't call a show you like childish, honestly it's childish if you're watching something like Barney, then I might question your mental health ..or if you're not watching it for the adults in suits...COUGH Anyway...

On to not teasing you OP (honestly just teasing Snot loves all), I'd say honestly any commercial where they are just trying to gross you out is annoying. I know it may sound cold but those charities that show the deformed kids with sad music just annoys me, they're trying to go directly for that cord that makes you feel bad because of the horrible things these people truly have to deal with, and while it IS the right thing to do what you can to help...

... maybe we have our OWN issues and haven't donated because of a loved one in the same house suffers from a condition that needs your attention/money/aid. And perhaps the money that was spent on the commercial would have been better spent on saving kids lives. But that's just me, a jaded human(mutant)being.

This.

No narcotics should be illegal. If people want to be dumb and kill themselves with a heroin overdose or whatever, it's no one's fault but their own. Plus it removes one of the many, many, many stupids from the gene pool.

Any anti ads are annoying. Especially that one were the two kids on meth get lost in a snowstorm or something. I've known people who have taken meth and it didn't affect them to that extent at all, except they had more energy (look at Agassi).

Sure it's drastic, but this is a serious problem and it's what we need right now. Sad but true.

I don't think i can even put just how pissed off i am at you into words right now.
Clearly you have never known anyone with a substance issue. Clearly you have never had to hold back someone doped up as they try to literaly tear a 7 year old limb from limb.
It's not just them it affects but everyone around them. Sure it does end up killing them but not before any family and friends are reduced to emotional shells and usually not till after they have stabbed or run over someone else just for the laughs.

Meth is bad.
Any sentiment agianst the abuse of substances as bad as meth get points in my book.

Anyway, would you rather have an ad for something everyone can agree with, or be brainwashed into wanting a fun, wallet-smart Mazda 6?

Were you on an official site or a free site to watch streamed videos?

If it is the former than I concede to your point, although if it is the latter then I don't think the site owners care what the ads are as it means they pay less to run the site. Hence why we sometimes get irrelevant ads on The Escapist.

If nature didn't want me to do meth then it wouldn't have made it's ingredients so delicious when combined. Now if you'll excuse me I have to take apart and reassemble this radio.

Well even if the ad is airing during a kid's show, it's still promoting awareness about meth, so it's a good thing in my opinion. Maybe the kids will see the ad and if they don't understand it, ask their parents about it.

A man from my hometown got involved in meth and it tore his life to shreds... he went from a pretty upstanding guy with maybe a little temper problem to having his (now ex)wife put a restraining order on him and filing for divorce for domestic abuse. His wife and children have been physically and psychologically affected by this, all in ways I can't even imagine. He's already been to jail once, and now he is going back for quite a while. And from what I know, drug abuse played a very large role in his sharp decline into ruin.

So while I may agree that some advertisements about illegal drug awareness aren't entirely effective, I'm glad that at least they're trying.

I honestly don't want to be offensive here...but i guess i will...
As i have already mentioned on another topic here (and i've read a few other which give the same kind of vibe) i am shocked at the ignorance shown by some people here.
I hate the picture of us gamers being basement dwellers who are fed by there moms as much as anyone around here. But frankly, reading a lot of here gives me a hard time believing that a lot of the voives here are indeed from humans who are very disconnected from real life.

You see, for one most people who start with drugs do not know what they are doing. That might be stupid but it doesn't make em a lesser being than you are.
I'm so sick of douches sitting in there cosy lving rooms in front of their computers throwing around remarks about how others should die for being stupid, unlucky, or whatever else while having not the sightest idea what they are talking about. And i am not talking about scientific articles about drug x you might have read (because, you are a smart person and smart persons read smart artciles, right?). I talk about seeing with your own eyes what these chemicals do to the lives of the users and their surroundings.

About the original topic: I do not know the ad in question but no ad is too over the top and no ad is to much. If each anti drug ad keep just 1 kid from trying it's a success.

I'm confused?, are you talking about cystal-meth or that legal party drug methrodrone (also know as M-cat or meow meow) which has cause quite a stir where i live (in the uk) due to the death of two teenagers they are thinking of banning it.

Just gonna say this:

I have a couple of friends who have dabbled in just about every narcotic known to man. One of them has overdosed more than once. I do actually know what I'm talking about.

I still feel no sympathy for them. Information on the effects of such drugs is readily available to anyone. It's their own fault for not finding out before they ruined themselves.
