The XBL database can be hacked, and for a little under a year now bots take accounts and play FIFA 12 to get 2 achievements. IF you call Xbox support, they will do an investigation (it takes them 2 or 4 weeks) and they will refund your points and refund you for 2 months of XBL.

Anyone inclined to do so, do not buy either Sony or Microsoft Video Game systems, they clearly are incapable of protecting your information.

I'm not whining, just to nip that in the bud. I'm telling the Escapist that my profile has been compromised, at no fault of my own. This means the negligence lies with them, and coupled with Sony's horrendous breach, I will never again take business to either company, and I encourage you to do the same.
Here's my question - why would you put your information into your X-Box if you didn't plan to use X-Box live?

Also, were your points purchased by pre-paid card? If pre-paid card, then this is exactly the reason why to use those and not your credit card. This could have been a lot worse.
Yeah, there are those who sue Steam only ebcause it's forced upon them, but almost everyone who uses Steam out of free will like it because of the reasons I mentioned. Also if you go back and read your own posts you did not say that using point cards was a good substitute. for credit card. You said that credit cards were riskier when they are in fact equal in safety. Also as I have said twice. You can't get DLC from retail.

In conclusion: credit cards aren't more risky than point cards.

I did. I played online and bought DLC, but I hid what they prompted me to hide and didn't expose myself to anything that would put me at risk of being hacked. And no, they were bought directly.
