Anti Virus computer programs. Whats good?

I've heard Avast is good, but don't listen to me, my laptop is riddled with viruses.

All I can say is don't use McAffee. I've had nothing but bad experiences with that program. Personally, I'd reccomend Norton.

I have a 3 year AVG thing, so far so good no major virus' so I do reccomend it but if you are looking for free, I got no help there

I hear norton is pretty good, just lacks a good pop-up blocker

Currently trying NOD32 after AVG started too disappoint me.

on my windows 98 computer form the days of dial up, to 3 xp computers, 3 laptops running vista/xp and this vista desktop i've either used avg free or no anti virus. i'm yet to have anything bad happen...

NOD32 is basically the best antivirus you can buy currently.

This, it's true. McAffee is like a 2 inch condom, you're safe so long as you don't actually ever have to use it.
NOD32 is awesome partly because it gives the best protection but also because it doesn't annoy you with tonnes of messages about updates and threats every thirty seconds.

Those are both really good but if you really worried about viruses you would just get a mac... and don't use Internet Explorer, that's just asking for a virus!

Hahaha... no. Who in their right mind would by an overpriced computer with an inferior OS just to prevent getting viruses? And macs get them too, their just aren't as many out there.

I use Avast and super-duper hardware firewall. Never let me down before, then again, I don't browse like an idiot.

NOD32 is good.

Avast pissed me off. Those God damned notifications making me die countless times in Enemy Territory.

Avast! is the one I use. It's won awards in the past and you can download it for free. Also you get a fun air-raid siren effect whenever it finds a virus, which kind of off-sets the "Oh shit!" moment whenever you catch something.

It also sets off the "Oh shit!" when you download a new database or when it updates the build.

And if it happens you are playing a game, not only it startles you, but you might BY AN ACCIDENT click on it. And hell if it only makes you click on it and you can return to the game. Some of the games are minimized by that.

This plus Spybot S&D is my current security solution, extremely effective, and 100% free.

I know several people who swear by NOD32, it's supposed to have the lowest system overhead of the major antivirus programs. I personally use Kaspersky which is supposedly just as good.

I'm told repeated that Norton is utter rubbish. I can't speak from experience but it's probably best not to be open-minded and adventurous when it comes to computer security.

Kaspersky here. Easy on the system, and good protection. The Firewall is pretty decent too.
