Tragic news guys and galpals. Anton Yelchin, probably best known as Chekov in the rebooted Star Trek series, has died in a car accident.

He was 27. This is simply a tragedy.

Car crash? From my understanding he got accidentally crushed by his own car that presumably wasn't braked right and rolled into him.

If that's it, that's it. The news articles I read just said car crash.

A few undetailed places say car crash, but that suggests that someone was being irresponsible. This was just an unfortunate freak accident.

Damn, of all the actors in Star Trek's long list of cast members he was quite frankly the last one I'd expect to see pass away.

I don't think there where any regulars for the movies or shows who was younger then him. Quit sad, but that's how life is I suppose. Anything can happen at any time.

Terrible tragedy. But it sounds like something a 20something would do. He likely forgot his parking brake and paid dearly for it. Still very sad. I liked him in the Star Trek reboot and he shined in Terminator. I expect to see a dedication in Beyond. I'm curious how the franchise will deal with the loss in the future - recast the role or introduce someone new?

From the police department.

A fatal traffic collision happened in Studio City. On Sunday, June 19 at 1:10 in the morning, a fatal traffic collision occurred. It was the result of the victim?s own car rolling backwards down his steep driveway, pinning him against a brick mailbox pillar and security fence,? said LAPD spokesperson Jenny Hauser. ?The victim was on his way to meet his friends for rehearsal. And when he didn?t show up, his friends went to his house, where they found him deceased by his car. It appeared he had momentarily exited his car leaving it in the driveway.
So, yah. His car was in neutral and it pinned him to his mail box. A tragic and terrible way to go. I hope his family is doing well (As well as one could hope), and hopefully some young people will learn a little about car safety from this.

He got out of his car and left it in neutral on his steep driveway, so it rolled back down the driveway and crushed him against a brick mailbox pillar and security fence. The most human death of recent weeks.

Well that settles it, 2016 is no longer waiting for people to die of natural causes. 2016 is straight up murdering people.

27 is no age, R.I.P Anton.

Yeesh, poor guy, what a way to go. And the fact that he was only slightly older than me doesn't help...

My condolences to his family, friends, and co-stars.

He's slightly younger then me, and it's kind of freaking me out. I think I'm in the zone where bad, deadly things are going to start happening to me through sheer brute force of 'Days being alive.'

Shit...That is some terrible luck. He was a favourite fresh personality out of the reboot. What an unexpected way to go. Hope his friends and family are coping ok.

Damn, what an awful way to go. And at such a young age, too. My sympathies go out to his friends and family.

Well, I must admit, that is a very poor way to die.

But, its not funny to me. Dude had a lot going for him. We'll never know why he left the car in neutral.

Dudes, park your cars securely.

I loved this guy in the Star Trek movies.

"Ayy Kepten! Kepten on ze brij!"

Sad to see him go. Oddly enough, I knew a guy who died the exact same way.
