Sorry if this thread has been done to death, but I was just wondering what languages my fellow Escapists speak.

Seeing that the Escapist is pretty diverse in the amount of people from around the world that frequent the site, I figure that this thread would be a cool idea.

Hell, feel free to answer the question in a different language, I have Google translator on a different tab.

I myself am fluent in German (well, I was fluent two years ago :p) and obviously English is my primary language.

I kinda wanna learn Russian, or maybe Spanish would be a good idea seeing as it's my country's second language.

Anyways, let the thread commence!
Je parle le français depuis ma naissance. C'est bien normal vue où j'habite.
But i can speak english that i learn from years of study in school. Well, i can speak as good a English-hating populace can, but i'm still not too shabby.

Oh hai!
I sort of grew up in a multicultural background, so this is what I can speak:
Fluently: English, Hindi, Mandarin
Semi-Fluently:Spanish
only a few words of Japanese. (I want to speak it fluently, though, as I was born there.)
Also, this is in fact my first post :D
Welcome to the Escapist! Have fun!

Don't touch me, mothefucker.

OT:

First language is English, and I'm able to speak a bit of German. I can read it quite well, but I can't really be bothered to write it.

I know FOUR languages by heart (English, Italian, Maltese and French), I can understand three more to an extent (Spanish, German and Latin) and I'm learning Japanese. Where does that put me?

I speak English, as it's my mother tongue.

I also speak fairly fluent Japanese, and a usable amount of French and Welsh.

Nederlands als moedertaal. Daarnaast Engels als tweede taal (wat ik vloeiend spreek). Verder heb ik ook Frans gehad op school, maar daar ben ik erg slecht in.

Translation:
Dutch as mother language. Aside from that, English as second language (which I speak fluently). I've also had French at school, but I'm rather bad in that.

So I'm bilingual. Officially I should be trilingual, but I honestly can't speak French all that well. I can understand text if you give me enough time, but the speech is to hard for me.

I primarily speak Dutch, followed by fluent English, semi-fluent German (I often use the wrong grammatical case), decent French, a little Russian and I'm currently learning Italian.

What do I need them all for? Well, uh, I work and live in a city with quite a lot of tourists and of course I occasionally travel myself. Learning a language is not that hard, it's just that if you don't speak, read or write them weekly you'll forget some things rather quickly.

English is my primary language, and I've learned French through highschool. I'm not fluent in French, but more so than most of the people in my area. Wanted to learn Italian, but I think Punjabi would be more useful down here. (Knowing all this you could probably discern my exact city.)

Mi lengua materna es el Español. Sin embargo, llevo 21 años hablándolo y cada día aprendo una palabra nueva que no sabía que existía... sí, yo mismo me doy pena a veces...

I also speak a fluent English, sometimes even better than Spanish (for some unknown reason) Right now I'm trying to learn Irish and I want to learn German someday...

It makes you a polyglot. Good show! =)

Anyway, one could say that I have three "mother tongues" (since I have used all of them from a very early age). I speak Slovenian and English fluently and I speak Serbo-Croatian semi-fluently. Sadly, the fact that I don't use Serbo-Croatian a lot means that I can't speak the language(s) as fluently as I would want to. It is something that I will still have to work on.

Also, while I can read Cyrillic, I can't write in it.
