Do you think there is? Maybe after Deus Ex 3 comes out? I bought Deus Ex for the PS2 a short while ago to find out why it's regarded as a classic but have been having really hard time enjoying it. It's the bland voice acting, the horrible facial animations (the rest of the graphics aren't too ugly), and the many, many loading sceens many of which you have to trape across multiple times. I don't want to play this game anymore. Thing is though, I like much of it. The gameplay is exiting and rewarding and the way your actions affect the game is noticably impressive and I'm not that even that far through the game yet (I just got to the mole people). I've heard the PC version has less loading screens but I'm not a PC gamer so that's a stumbling block. I do, in fact, see why Deus Ex is considered a classic. Clear off the gunk and you'll find a game that is quite impressive even by modern standards. Because of that, Deus Ex really, really needs a remake and I very much doubt there is any other game out there that deserves one more. Any chance?

Meh. At least it's playable on modern systems. System Shock 2 needs a remake much more.

There are a mod project called HDTP (HD The Project) with the purpose of vastly improving all characters animations, models and textures. You could google it if you want, but it's not done yet. You also have the enbseries wich allows Deus Ex to use a DX9 renderer and use dynamic lights, bump mapping, etc... It does not improve any characters in any way however.

In short, the mod community is already at it, patience young padawan.

Edit: oh I just saw that you had the PS2 version so... errr....
don't get your hopes up, or get it to the PC, it's not like you need a modern gaming computer to run it, an avarage junkpile with windows 95 could probably run it just as good.

Here I am telling you to have patience when I myself fails at reading OP correctly... oh well, I'll guess the fact that local time here is 02:45 will have to do as an excuse.

Basically the chances of a remake are nill. you should get the PC version as it runs MUCH smoother and, with the modding that's going on it basically constitutes a remake.

yea but he said he's playing the ps2 version (which is VASTLY inferior to the PC version, and this coming from a console gamer).

High five! Right on! Combine both System Shock 1+2 in one game for massive win.

ah sorry. Had to run to class, no time for refreshing pages.

Yea, so, short story is if you want a remake, get the PC version. Again, I'm a console gamer and don't buy into the whole "PCs are superior" crap, though I do play games on PCs too. But when it comes to Deus Ex, and really any older FPS, PC is hands down the way to go, especially with the modding communities that have sprung up around several games

Then you're probably in bad company with a PC purist such as myself, I have never owned a console. Altho this might be the summer to reconsider, considering how dry the PC market is for the moment.

I used to love PC gaming, but it's been dry for ages. Steam is the only thing keeping it afloat, imo. I've always liked bother forms, but my total conversion came when I moved to Japan a few years back, couldn't take my tower (gaming PC) so I just ended up with my macbook over here, now i really only play older PC games (like Deus Ex, Freelancer, SS2, etc) on PC and everything else on my x360.

There is one coming out end of this year/early 2011

apparently after the terrible sequel on xbox and ps2, they are spending time trying to get it the same as the original, so looks good

I probably would have ended up the same way during those circumstances, but for now I'm replaying Deus Ex, Freelancer, Mass Effect 1&2 and the Half Life series until they decide to actually realese something for PC.
