Beer. I like beer. Beer is good. Try the cheap brands. See what you like. I recommend Czech stuff.

NO cheap booze is cheap for a reason and that reason is its too crap to be sold at a higher price i suppose you could try out making homebrew if you survive and get good enough id might come out tasting pretty good for just the price of the ingredients

I personally don't really like beer, at all. I would recommend giving apple ales a shot. Redd's and Angry Orchard are both pretty good. If you want something more in the line of mixed drinks, give Kahlua, an Irish Cream, and milk a shot. Also if you ever find yourself drinking in Japan, order a Cassis Orange. Most places will serve it and its usually pretty mild in terms of alcohol taste.
Yay for Cassis Orange! Fairly weak stuff though, not what you are looking for if you are trying to get blitzed fast.

If you do find yourself in Japan and want to get completey destroyed, there is a little drink here that most bars have a dust-covered bottle of an abomination called Spiritus (just ask for spi-ri-tus). It's something like 95% alcohol.

I think the idea was to get comfortably drunk without any taste of alcohol. Not get instant alcohol poisoning. :p

:D. Our little cigar club used to have a shot of the stuff for new initiates. Just the smell makes me want to woof my cookies.

Ugh...even *thinking* of the smell makes me want to. It's like vodka, marinated in vodka.

Cheap isn't the route you need to go. Efficient is much better. The only reason to drink cheap is to drink a lot. And if you're drinking to get hammered, you're doing yourself no favors. At that point taste doesn't matter and you should play to the lowest common denominator, Thunderbird.

No, what you want is a midrange cider or light beer you can sip on occasionally and by which you will enjoy in moderation. If you're not drinking much of it at a time, each drink will set you back little in comparison.

I recommend Woodchuck Hard Cider or maybe Angry Orchard. Woodchuck has to be the smoothest alcoholic beverage I've seen, as it's more like an apple juice then anything. Angry Orchard has things like Elderflower, which is very good..

Or, if you want more bite, you can go with my favorite, Barenjager.

Grab a pint of Guinness and drop 50ml or so of Port in it. That'll get the job done

where are you from?
I have fallen in love with 'stone IPA' myself, the stuff is rocket fuel!

depends what you are after I guess, what is your taste? sweet? bitter?
Sweet, I suppose.
Try some Amaretto. It's a sweet, sugary alcohol. Tastes even better when mixed with ice and some sort of 7-up. Or you can drink it straight. Really it's up to you.
I only, really, ever enjoy the sweet tasting alcohols... but for beer, I'm into the bitter ones. I don't like carbonation in my beer.

Amaretto only costs about 9-12 bucks a bottle. A decent knock off 7 up will cost about 3-4 per two liter.

I can spend about 12.82 and have booze for the night. IF you want to stay awake, though, mixing Amaretto with monster still tastes wonderful. Baileys Irish Cream is also sweet, but that's more of a chocolate type drink. RumChata tastes ike cinnamon toast crunch... only alcoholic and liquid. and it's about 12-14 bucks.

Baileys costs about 15-18 bucks, so that's the most expensive of this lot.

Canadian Club and Ginger Ale or Canadian Club and Dr. Pepper is really good for a low price IMO. Edit: Canadian Club is a whiskey, in case you didn't know

Sweet, I suppose.
In that case (some have probably been named already):

- Bailey's Irish Cream. It has a mocha-ish flavour, pretty much my favourite alcoholic drink next to White Russians.
- Malibu. Relatively weak coconut liquor. I have yet to find a juice to mix this with though. Coconut is so specific in taste.
- Amaretto. Almond liquor, a little too sweet for my taste to drink pure but it might be fine for you.
- Liqueur 43. That's vanilla liquor. Like amaretto, too sweet for me to drink pure. Both go nice with coffee too.
- Screwdrivers, aka vodka and orange juice. A classic.
- Safari, a weak tropical fruit liquor. Goes excellent with orange juice.
- Decent ciders are sweet-ish and refreshing.
- Limoncello. That's lemon liquor, quite a bit sweeter than you'd expect from lemon.
- Jaegermeister. Though I wouldn't call that classic herb liquor traditionally 'sweet', but I like it.
- Port wine. Fortified red wine. Decent brands don't cost too much, but shy away from the really cheap ones.
- Certain white wines such as German Spätlese wines and wine from the Mosel region are light and sweet.

That's about it from my mind. Gosh I know too much about alcohol.

That is the thing with alcohol it is generally bitter.

cider is kind of sweet though.
100% agreed. Cider is the only cheap alcoholic beverage I can find that is actually a joy to drink in small or large quantities. Then again I also like $20-$30 whiskey so what do I know?

Don't go for the cheap stuff? Alright then, I think I'll look for some of these brands. Thanks for the suggestions!

If you are into alcohol, you are going to like the smell and taste. If you are not, go for sweet liqueurs and wine/beer/cider/ale/stout...

Seriously, drink what you enjoy. I enjoy our local strong alcohol called "Rakija" which is something like brandy or moonshine. And yes, it is used as rubbing alcohol too. Only, I make it, I know what's in it and it's bloody good. But then again, it does take quite a bit of time, equipment and space to do so.

What I would recommend is to go with wine first. There are plenty of wine types and wine based drinks that are great and fit wide variety of tastes. Trust me, most wines, even cheap ones, are more than OK and wine based drinks like Sangria alter original wine so much that base doesn't really matter.

I used to drink an Apple Sourz-like drink called Mickey Finn. It was £5 a bottle, was 15% and tasted pretty great (it tasted much better than the more expensive Sourz). The taste was more "sour" than the bitterness usually associated with alcohol. I used to drink a whole bottle before going out, it's the equivalent of a few beers and it never used to give me hangovers.

I once had to use it as a sleeping aid though. Would not recommend.

Ciders around the 4% area tend to taste more like fruit juice or squash than alcoholic beverages. My current favourite is Old Mout. I don't even drink it to get drunk, it just tastes awesome.

I'm only going to say this once:

Cointreau

While it might not be the cheapest of alcohol's out there (at least not in Australia), it is amazing.

I hate the taste of alcohol, I hate beer, I dislike vodka, scotch/bourbon/whisky no thanks.

Cointreau + red bull tastes like skittles
Cointreau + lime and soda tastes like heaven
Cointreau + coke tastes like froot loops

And the best part? I never get a hangover after drinking it. I can easily do 15-20 Cointreau + mixers on a night out and not feel even the slightest bit hungover the next day, but I feel drunk af during the night, it is 40% alcohol after all.

Sweet cider such as Woodpecker might be for you.
Also in Sweden and I think exported to most countries these days we have flavoured ciders such as Halmstads, with flavours like forest berries, strawberry, apple and cinnamon etc.

Harder stuff, well the more expensive usually the better, some Mescal can be very smooth but tends to cost a lot. Flavoured vodka such as Absolut Vanilla is nice.
I am also partial to Captain Morgan Spiced Gold, which to me is almost creamy.

Maybe liqueurs are more your suit, Malibu, Dooleys, a whole host of others with various flavours and not such a harsh alcohol taste.

For mixed drinks, anything with a parasol in it, i.e., the "tropical" drinks like Mai Tai, Pina Colada, Hurricane, Zombie, Rum Punch. These are all on the sweet side and go down much more easily than other drinks. However, they are not cheap unless you make them at home. Also, it is easy to get very, very drunk on them, so be careful.

Night Train. $3.50 per litre, 17.5% alcohol and tastes like cough syrup. My go-to on the pparticularly self-loathing nights. Hard to find though.
