Any Escapists in a Band or Have Any Crazy Talents? (Shameless self promotion)

As derailed as this thread has gotten, you have to admit that it did put this on the Escapist thread map.

Hehe, what's that supposed to mean? My thinking was I find people are normally too modest to talk about what they've actually accomplished outside of videogames so it's really interesting to see what you can find out if you just take the time to ask.

Daystar is somewhat of a forum celebrity, famous for his ability of derailing threads with single sentences. So that's ehy he said it's on the escapist map

Crazy talent... no. In a band, yes. I woudn't say we're great but we did self produce a fairly interesting punk rock/indie rock album last year. Check it out at http://theyoungoffenders.ca/ for free or look us up on Youtube, Grooveshark, iTunes, etc.


Still getting our sound together so this album doesn't sound anything like we do now... but still.

Probably in need of some producing but that actually sounds pretty amazing, what instrument do you play?

I'm the drummer, and actually the production is entirely intentional.

But I help write the songs and throw in some solos... unnecessarily long solos...

But our sound is kind of weird... somewhere between the strokes and Dinosaur Jr... since J. Mascis is my biggest influence as a guitarist...

I play bass guitar and guitar, and I was bassist in multiple bands in high school, none of which, regrettably, lasted past graduation. I'm branching out and starting to do things on my own musically, I don't have anything to show for it, yet.

I will win any staring contest, ever. I can literally stare for upwards of 10 minutes (never timed it further) and I don't flinch unless literally hit with something. I can also hold my breath for ages.

Used to play bass guitar in a death metal band called Clief(www.myspace.com/Clief). Later on started my own hobby band with a mate in school. I did the guitar and song, as well as bass guitar when we used it. We recorded tons of songs, but didn't care at all for quality - so we pretty much improvised everything and recorded once. The songs may not be good, however, they're nostalgic to me these days and I still enjoy listening to them once in a while.

Recently though me and a friend of mine have been making some good chiptune/electronic stuff mixed with epic guitar riffs (An example track [http://soundcloud.com/forabrokenearth/toriningen]). Hopefully that will start properly going somewhere once we play a few shows and get an album up on bandcamp.

I actually really like that. I'm considering doing something similar with a friend of mine and that's actually a really cool example.
