I've just been made next (academic) year's Treasurer of my university film-making society, which I've been part of for about two years now. First year I was there, we did a couple of very tiny projects that we never got around to finishing (one using the old-fashioned Super 8 camera, which we finished but can't watch because we have no Super-8 projector...). Last year we managed to do a few tiny projects, plus a longer film set in a lift, which we filmed at a theatre in Leeds (where we're based), which is currently in the editing stages. I'm also meant to be editing a short two-minute film I did with two (now ex-members) people from the society before Christmas last year (technical problems and massive memory size on the video footage meant it took ages to get the footage to me to edit...).
Next year, since we're building up each year to do bigger and better stuff, myself and the other two committee members are planning two open sessions to attract new members to the group (in addition to our usual stall at Fresher's Fair) including a talk by an industry member (if possible) and a scriptwriting/editing workshop, plus a weekend of filming for those people to show them the basics of film-making. We're also going to try and make some money for the society from hosting a university film festival at the student union, though that's currently still in the planning stages. We've got another film project, a ten-minute short, that we've had in production on and off for almost a year and a half, now we've finally got a cast and location to film, and then we all leave for summer. So we have even more delays... (we get equipment from the university since our previous president and current president both study, or have graduated from, the Cinema and Photography course and they get access to equipment for free...).
Personally, I'm into writing screenplays and editing the footage. Though I have done some camera work too, and on the last film shoot we did I was given responsibility for taking behind-the-scenes photos for our Facebook page, which kind of got me more interested in artistic photography as a hobby. Shame I can't afford a decent camera...
