I really loved how you could basically sink a lot of time into that game because it essentially had an infinite level-up system, etc. I haven't really been able to find another game like it.

Anybody know of some good RPGs with a good levelling system? I'm up for any kind of game really, as long as it carries some fairly deep RPG mechanics. I don't like game where it's just sort of there. :p

There is no game exactly like Disgaea except Disgaea but lots of Nippon Ichi games have huge depth when it comes to leveling I think Legasista and Mugen Souls are two of the most recent ones, Makai Kingdom is also kind of similar but I really didnt care for it.

Maybe try Trinity Universe. It uses very different battle mechanics from Disgaea, but it uses the same characters/universe and has a decently lengthy and in-depth leveling system as far as I have seen.

If you've got an old school DS or a Game Boy Advance, you can try Tactics Ogre: Knights of Lodiss. It is the game that Disgaea was made from.

Could try the Final Fantasy Tactics/ Tactics Ogre games. Not sure if they're as deep though. Honestly, I played Disgaea and other tactical RPGs for the stories more, which is why I didn't get along with all the other Nippon Ichi titles (including Disgaeas terrible sequels).

I really, really enjoyed Phantom Brave. The story can be a little sugary-sweet but if you don't mind that so much, the gameplay mechanics are really solid. The visuals and the soundtrack are beautiful too, which doesn't hurt.

Hmm. Seems like a lot of RPGs reside on the PS3. Xbox 360 seems to be notorious for...not having RPGs. That Ogre Tactics looks like those FF Tactics games. :)

I can't believe there aren't more Indie RPGs on Steam or something. :/

If you have a PS2, there's always Soul Nomad and the World Eaters (Also developed by Nippon Ichi).

It's also the only RPG that I know of where when you're asked by your adoptive mother to go on a quest to save the world, you can flip the bird, stab her through the chest, burn your hometown to the ground, and then go on a quest to conquer the planet instead.

Likewise, Mugen Souls has a level up system similar to Disgaea as well (Published by N1), but that's for the PS3.

almost every game from NIS on the ps2 is a good SRPG
so get a PS2 or use PCSX2 a PS2 emulator^^ (PC rules, better graphics faster gameplay^^)
