The only one that I have enjoyed recently is nestalgia (mispelled on purpose). Please do not recommend W.O.W. clones. I have no problems with rpgs, mmos, mmorpgs, or even single player games. What have you played that you recommend?
Battleon. Great game, and you don't have to pay a penny. Still, there are a lot of things to be gained for cracking open your wallet, but once again, you don't have to.
Personally, i like Soldierfront by ijji.
It's basically a (despicable) ripoff of Couterstrike Source, but it a little nicer to those who aren't crazy and play it everyday for hours. I can't play it for some reason, though. My computer can't load the game up
I am a fan of the Persistent Browser Based Games - so I have tried quite a few of the strategy/combat ones. Battledawn is my favorite of this genre. There are several pace settings - 1 tick is slower, 2 tick is twice as fast, 3 tick for people who are playing many hours a day and like a fast pace.
Although it's already been said, I have to recommend Vindictus. I still haven't gotten tired of kicking a Gnoll into a wall and throwing its petrified corpse into nearby enemies.
Well on April 12th World of Tanks goes live. And its NOTHING like World of Warcraft, so you don't need to worry. Its free to play with microtransactions. But otherwise quite well done.
League of Legends is a good one. Free to play PvP with RTS elements. Community is a pile of trollop and the server reliability is iffy at the moment but the game is fun and addictive.
I'm partial to Dungeon Fighter Online. It's an MMORPG that plays like an old school side scrolling beat-em-up (think Final Fight, or Streets of Rage). Free to play, microtransactions optional.
i'm playing Vindictus pretty much as my primary MMO 3rd person action dungeon crawler, and it is awesome, and enemy AI tends to be fairly intelligent to, for the most part, its about timing and skill, not your stats
