So its up to me to be the musical noob and recommended the obvious is it? Fine. METALLICA!!! Not all of it though. Just the first 4 to 5 albums. Kill 'Em All is optional, and everything before it is pure gold. Also, Megadeth and Judas Priest aren't bad. You seem to be a person into heavier music and in that case I would tentatively recommended Slayer, but they aren't for everyone. I realize these bands are not very original but for the sound you get they are phenomenal.

I suggest Murder By Death. I don't really know how to describe their sound, but I believe you'll know whether or not you are into them within about 10 minutes of listening.

Well I can certainly work with a list like that - let the recommendations commence![hr]
[HEADING=2]-Band I'm recommending because you've displayed an interest in Progressive Rock-[/HEADING]

Karmakanic:

An offshoot of the (comparatively) better known Flower Kings, Karmakanic are essentially my go to example of the genre, when someone happens to ask me to define it for them.

Yes!

I loved that. Thank you!

And I knew about Van Canto and Rhapsody of Fire and Avantasia and... Someone else, but I forgot to put them there and I also don't really listen to them that much.

SABATON, no question there. Personal favorites: "back in Controle" and "Primo Victoria"

Also (even though some people don't like them) Disturbed (the Indestructable album kills)

I know you most probably won't like this band, but, please. Give it a chance.
The band I recommend you check out is The Smiths. They are the most excellent band I've ever came across.
I used to be into all those bands you mentioned, but after hearing the Smiths...it changed me, it really did. I don't know if it will change you at all, but definitely check them out for a different experience. :)

Ok, per the mention of system of a down, I would recommend Bobaflex as they have a similar style where their musical style can vary wildly within a song. Certainly not the heaviest band ever, but hard enough. They are also similar to the metal entries as their songs typically tell a story of sometype.

If you like a lot of heavy repetitive drone, As blood runs black are a pretty good bunch of kids. Similar to some of Dethklok and other heavier listed.

Mentions of groups like rammstien and SOAD indicate some tolerance to industrial metal For that I fully suggest something like Ministry or Fear Factory

Would offer more suggestions but all doped up on muscle relaxers today and fairly lethargic.

Oh, one last entry, wont find a video, but I am currently fond of Lux Occulta for their merging of metal/industrial/symphonic tones. Look em up.

I had a feeling you might like them - happy to be of service in making your day, heh.

Don't know any of those bands, as good nu-metal does not exist. (With the Exclusion of the band Halford, featuring Rob Halford of the old metal and Judas Priest.)

I'd recommend listening to Iron Maiden - Children of the Damned.
