Korra for continuity from Avatar, Ponies for bright and colorful, and Transformers: Prime mostly for Starcream's FABULOUS heels.

Regular Show. An episode starts off rather childish (Nigga pleeez, 23 year-olds don't act like thirteen year-olds), but then about midway through an episode, everything gets really, really surreal. It's glorious.

#1 Avatar: The Last Airbender - probably the most well-rounded cartoon in existence with deep & well-developed characters, surreal pacing, compelling story, light-hearted humor and beautifully choreographed action. I would rank it even higher than some of the best Anime out there.

#1 My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - tied for first place because...well...it stirs a different kind of emotion in me. The joy, adorableness and sheer FUN of it all is beyond words really.

#2 Dragonball Kai - nostalgia triiip! With all the excessive lenghty parts trimmed off, Kai is a considerably "tighter" version of the original DBZ while missing out on none of the goodies and re-mastered for HD quality. What more could a human ask for?

#3 Avatar: Legend Of Korra - an extremely tight show that pretty much takes the beautiful pacing and character development of the original Avatar series and throws it out the window (as intended by the writers). Far too many plot holes, unlikable characters and inconsisties for my liking (just my opinion man)...but compared to most cartoons it's still pretty good. Just not up to my absurdly high expectations set by the original Avatar series.

#4 Code Geass / Death Note / blah blah anime blah blah - most of my favorite anime would probably go here. Code Geass probably deserves higher mention out of the lot for me, the incredibly unpredictable and satisfying plot twists are almost orgasmic (for the lack of a better word) and the ending seals the deal.

The Legend of Korra mostly (assuming we are taking recent to mean just finished or ongoing). I've been watching the Ricky Gervais Show last couple days, after someone posted a segment in some forum, but I don't know if that's ongoing or recent (also I really have to believe that its an act and Karl isn't seriously that stupid).

Also links to the Korra group. We got working links to all the episodes :)

The Ricky Gervais show is ongoing, at least in the US. HBO just started airing it a few months ago. I've only caught one or two episodes, but it is thoroughly entertaining.
Oh ok good to know. I'm watching it online since I hate to watch TV normally, so I think I have at least 2 completed seasons.

Adventure Time!, The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra are the only ones I've seen so far (if you don't count anime).
I am gonna check out some of the ones put forth in this thread however.

I don't have a TV, actually, but the few cartoons I've seen I've liked:

Legend of Korra is pretty slick, but I've only watched the first two episodes.

My Little Pony is just happy and avoids the serious and throws me back to a time when I used to enjoy Disney movies in bed as a child.

The Marvellous Misadventures of Flapjack because it's just plain scary in a good way.

Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (only seen the first season, and unfortunately I hear the second season isn't as good), Legend of Korra, and of course the obligatory Ponies, although I don't watch the show anymore. Caught a few episodes of Young Justice which seemed cool, except for one characters incredibly annoying catchphrase (fans know who I'm talking about). And I have seen some of Adventure Time and really enjoyed it, but I have yet to watch more than the occasional episode with a friend.

I assume you're talking about kids shows, but if not I'll add my voice to those saying Archer and Metalocalypse. Archer is one of my favourite shows, no qualifications. I'll have to check out Gravity Falls, it looks pretty cool.

Everyone has pretty much listed them all. I don't think Cartoons have gotten any worse, there was always tripe on, it usually passed out of the public consciousness and left us with the gems.

All this nostalgia is great but there are alot of great new shoes as well.

And...Yes I like Ponies.
Not on a scary level like some, but some of the songs are alarmingly catchy, and Discord was one of the most entertaining villains I've seen in a cartoon.
Also Luna. Lovely design, a Nightsky for a tail and mane. Something I used to think up (and sadly no longer have the proof that I drew it, though I believe the pony itself was red, and had stars and blue tail pinned on) when I was a teeny little girl, so it feels a little like a bit of my childhood imagination has shone through in her, so for that I cannot hate the show.

Adventure Time is amazing. For a kids cartoon it's got a scarily deep and incredibly dark backstory to it that's only ever hinted at with a great deal of mystery. It's also very, very silly and very funny.

Apart from that though I only really watch Venture Bros, which is just all-round one of my favourite shows on television, and also Archer which is just damn funny.

(ALSO I CAN NEVER REMEMBER HOW TO EMBED YOUTUBE VIDEOS HERE =[)

yeah, its anime. I'm enjoying Bakuman. Same creative team that made Death Note about some kids that take their shot at creating manga. Its a good slice of life filled with success, failure, and I think a good look at the creative process. It starts a little slow though.

G.I.Joe Renegades. It's a pretty cool premise that the Joe's are outlaws in a world already controlled by Cobra. That the Cobra corporation used the line "knowing is half the battle" in their commercial explaining how they control everything was a great retro irony joke.

Just saw a bunch of people mention Archer which I love, but honestly not something i thought of as a cartoon until mentioned here.

Just to add onto the braying...

MLP:FiM
Adventure Time
(occasionally) Regular Show
(occasionally) Clone Wars

And...that's about it! The rest of the animated stuff I'm watching has been Anime. Speaking of which, I just finished K-On!, Highschool DxD, and Kaichou wa Maid-sama!. Not exactly new series, with the exception of the first one, but eh. I'm starting another series when I can decide which one to get into. The sheer number of good options is, frankly, staggering.

I don't think I've really cared about anything that's live action for a while now (Except for Castle/Supernatural).

Thank you OP. Just watched the first episode. Between face stuck to a leafblower and rainbow puking gnomes, I think I'll be using this show to plug the gap between pony seasons.
