No, I use Steam - where everything is awesome, cheap and can be easily accessed!

/Fanboyism

In general, what I said usually applies, however certain games - such as Resident Evil 4 (which I REALLY want) - are only available on consoles, and I can't really get a good price for it.

Unless you're talking about really old games, in which case I'm fine. All I've ever really wanted was the original Half Life (MUCH better than HL2 by the way) and KOTOR - both of which I purchased on Steam for around 12 pounds (the 12 pounds also included Mass Effect 1)

I like to invest in my hobby, but not to the extent to waste so much money on games that are very difficult to obtain. There are dozens of games I want, though I'm not ashamed to admit I'll pirate them due to the impossibility to find and the original publisher not selling it anymore. Say, Tanktics, Die by the Sword and Dark Omen are the ideal examples.

Huh... In Sweden the Pegi ratings are viewed more like a guidance... for example I walked into a store and bought CoD MW2 when I was 16 no questions asked!
Sweden´s view on gaming rules!
Yeah it's exactly the same here.

But Dead Rising has been rated by the BBFC so there's no way around it.

Test Drive 5 on the PS1. I lost my copy, and it's not even worth it looking for another one. Originally, I was gonna say Spyro 3, but i got a PS3 and just bought that on the store.

Dead Rising.

It's an 18 and I'm 17. So I can't buy it myself.

Whenever I happen to have my dad around I can't afford it though.

God damn it I want Dead Rising...
don't bother its shit.

Homeworld 2... the only copies are on the internet, and I don't have a credit card so I can't buy them (also too lazy to buy a pre-paid debit card). Owell, I can live without it... I had a burnt copy, but it was from a friend, and when I saw that is wasn't legit I gave it back to him. I ended up playing the demo, and it was pretty fun, but nowhere near as cool looking as the full game is (gameplay footage tortures me).
I'm holding a copy here in my hand right now. If you lived near me you could borrow it:) Found it about three months ago in a box of crap outside somebodys house to be thrown away. Lucky find.

As for myself I have had a big hankering to play Starfox 64 for months. Every emulator I try I just can't get to work.

I want a copy of The Sentinel, but the nineties remake I think its called sentinel returns (I have the original on a, physically, huge floppy for my BBC basic)

Some people have strange ideas about emulation. It doesn't let you play games you don't own, it lets people like me play our old games when the ancient computer breaks.

My BBC micro just beeps when you switch it on and there's not video output any-more; even before that the tape drives input socket was borked. Being able to store and play my old NES, BBC and DOS games is a god send even if it means buying arcane backing up hardware.

I'm sure Square Enix would prefer someone buy Final Fantasy XIII now rather than Final Fantasy VII.
I'm pretty sure Sqeenix would LOVE people to buy FF7 for their PS3 or PSP off the Playstation network not just copy it from the inter-webs.

Does anyone here want a copy of RECOIL?
It's a horribly-known game that got incredible reviews, it's a 3D tank TPS from 1998, made by the same company as MAG.

And I can guarentee you won't find it in a shop, on any online games retailer, or a torrent. EBay might have a copy, but it's VERY unlikely.

I'll upload it to MegaUpload if anyone wants it... hooray?

Sparkster for the Mega Drive - I don't care if it is inferior to Rocket Knight Adventures (which I have and beaten twice last time I counted), I just want it and I don't want to pay over £30 for one.

Just got reminded of one in another thread. Played the demo, read up on the game and it was awesome.

Nobody else agreed with me though, and I still can't find a copy.

Called Galapagos. Came out when 3D cards were new and fancy, but the most impressive thing about it was the AI. The game had one character, who you had to guide through a world of hazards. It was a cute little robot called Mendel, and if you messed up, it died.

The original Silent Hill. Not only is it that you can't save progress on PS1 games, but because when I do find it, it's 50 bucks. FOR A PS1 GAME.

I really want to find an old CGA platformer that I can barely remember from my childhood. Thing was weird as. Stranded on an alien world kinda thing.
Any chance it was exile? CGA platform adventure on Amiga and BBC where the player is stranded on an alien world and has to explore and solve puzzles to escape. It came out in 1988 and was a performace hog needing a whole 48K of RAM to display properly!

if so there's a pretty faithful remake at http://exile.ovine.net/ don't bother with pirate copies as (barring cd32 version) it had copy protection that disabled a slew of features making the game impossible to finish.

if not I'd recommend giving the game a go anyway, it had physics, some speech, passive creatures and a lot of stuff that wasn't seen at the time and rarely copied until a lot later.

I've been looking for Tales of the Abyss and just can't find it.
This, though I haven't been looking all that hard. As the appointed leader of the Escapist Tales group, however, it is my duty to find and play it.
