Would anyone like to see Spyro the Dragon get the same treatment Crash is getting for his first three games? Ala a remake? I would love to see the ps1 Spyro games remade like Crash.

Had no idea Crash was being remade. I would rather Spyro get remade before Crash.

I feel Sypro was ahead of its time, like a PS2 game on PS1. Granted, it had the benefit of releasing two years after the first crash game, but the world felt truly three dimensional and with some puzzles that were real headscratchers at the time.

I don't know.

We still don't know for sure how the Crash remaster is going to turn out. It might suck, or it might remind us why the mascot platformer went the way of the dodo i.e. most of them sucked.

Now, Spyro is one of the few games in this genre that was very good and still holds up quite well, but maybe it should just be left in the past where it can be appreciated with nostalgia goggles. And even though the original might've been great/good, there's no promise the remake/remaster won't shit the bed. REmake was fantastic, but then we also got Twin Snakes and New n'Tasty... which weren't.

I'm trying really hard on not being negative here. I wouldn't mind; but I don't think it would be as good without the nostalgia glasses.

Sure, so long as they give Spyro back his old face. The Skylanders look is... not terribly becoming.

He looks like that fucking "kill me" blob from The Simpsons. What the garbage, man?

What I've seen of the Crash remake doesn't look very impressive, and I doubt a Spyro remake would fare any better.

Honestly I'd rather have CTR be remade with online functionality.

Although I love the original Spyro games, I don't think that a remake of the original games can work as stand alone games, maybe as a nostalgia trip, but I don't like those kinds of things.

For example, the levels in the original Spyro may have been big and expansive 20 years ago, but they are very small and most are very simplistic compared to today's standards.

For people that like to argue yes, go and replay the original Spyro game, you'll find that you run through it ridiculously fast, now ask yourself if this game would be able to hold its own nowadays, but with prettier graphics.

If they go with that ugly look, I won't even bother with it to be quite honest. I despise Skylanders.

That would be amazing. Absolutely love CTR imo its the best karting game ever made I still play it now on occasion with my friends but back in the day we played it a ridiculous amount we even brought it to school and played on breaks. Remember one holiday we 100% it one night even though we never had a memory card to save lol it wasnt much of a challenge for us then.

As for Spyro hmmm cant say I was ever a big fan I mean I had the first Spyro game on PSX and it was impressive for the time but I did not find it a very strong or compelling game. Then again I can say the same about the non CTR crash games.

I am very unlikely to buy anything that remakes Spyro tbh. I dont hate the character or games im just indifferent to them.

Yes, maybe?

It kind of depends on how good the Crash remakes are, to be honest. If they'd turn out to be decent remakes that recreate the originals but hopefully take the opportunity to update the games a touch to both the higher standards of the latter game in the trilogy and then again to meet modern expectations so they don't feel too dated then sure, I'd be up for Spyro remakes like that. Otherwise I'm not too fussed - in my opinion the original Spyro trilogy still holds up wonderfully today so a remake might be nice but certainly not something I absolutely need.

I wouldn't mind have a Sypro remake, but with classic looking Spyro and not that monstrosity they called Spyro in Skylanders.

But I digress.

It's been years since I've played the originals, and I wouldn't mind seeing them all shiny and new. Assuming that Activision gets off their ass and gets someone to make them, but I don't see that happening.

The Spyro games are a classic no doubt about it! They were my childhood during the good old ps1 days right next to Crash and some other fan favorites :). Although I do agree with you, if someone does remake Spyro it needs to be done well. If Crash remake turns out great, I hope they do Spyro next. Although if there's any trace of skylanders, uhg!

Maybe?

I LOVED the original Spyro games, and a few of the 2.5D ones weren't horrid, but I'm just worried about remakes of PS1 Era games.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
At least the first 2 spyro games. After that the series kinda fell off.

My only experience with Spyro was as a child playing with a PS2 for the first time in his friends house and just running around with no clue what to do.

Sure, & I'd even take a late sequel/prequel, as long as he doesn't get the kind of character makeover Conkers got.

The Spyro series is one that I actually did play back in the day (unlike, say, Banjo or Crash; well, some Crash, but not a lot)
They really need to modernize the controls, but otherwise the series (first three, anyway) was a lot of fun and is still fun; I would be really interested in a remake. Especially with the interest in PS1 remakes, as seen with the Parappa and Crash remakes.

+10 for Spyro remake. I think Spyro was my most played game on the PS1, they don't make platformers anymore :(. Hope the Crash reboot and Yooka-Laylee light up interest in the genre.

Add another "yes, but only if they go back to classic look" to the pile. Spyro wasn't my first game but it sits undisputed as the game that got me into gaming. Just tighten up the controls a little and get the camera some therapy so it doesn't try to get us murdered all the time and I'll sing the praises of whoever makes it.
