I really like The X-Files. I recently started watching it again after my sister recommended it to me.
I previously watched the first ten episodes or so when I was nine, but it freaked me out too much to continue.
Now, since I enjoy horror movies and such, I don't find it as creepy (some episodes still freak me out a little, especially Squeeze and Tooms, the sequel to the episode.
The characters are great, and the overall plot compelling, and the episodes have a lot of diversity. Some will be crime thrillers, some will be paranormal horror, etc.
While the show can get a little narmy, a lot of the time I find the acting is pretty solid?

Any other people who watched the show?
What are your thoughts on it?

I use to love The X-Files, and even like the more recent movies. Doubt there's very many episodes I've missed.

Also watched Millenium, which was a short-lived series that followed X-Files. Also more recently and more realisticly there was a show called The Eleventh Hour that was kewl, but I think Fringe killed it in ratings so it got cancelled. Liked Fringe at first but it started getting too boring.

Now there's a new show on ScyFy called Haven which is very reminiscent of X-Files I watch. Definitely more a Scyfy channel show though. Love it!

I'd keep up with Fringe, if you've only watched a little.
It gets insane, but really awesome.

I enjoyed the first season, but after being disappointed by the second I couldn't get myself to watch the third. I call it the Heroes effect.

There's no harm in giving it a little more of a try.
If you don't want to, that's fine, but I found it pretty awesome once the alternate universe plot kicked in.

I love the X-files! They just don't do sci-fi like X-files anymore.

I didn't like Haven. Granted, I only actually watched the first 4 episodes, but those first 4 basically had the same stupid plot: unidentified person feels sad, strange and completely unrelated thing happened. It didn't make any sense, the characters were boring as shit, and everything and the humor they tried to inject just fell flat. I'm vaguely aware that there was some kind of subplot about the lead male not being able to feel pain, but that was basically just some random crap they threw into the first episode that didn't get brought up later on at all anyway. If this is what we're comparing X-files to nowadays, I weep for the genre.

While not a huge fan of the show I did watch it during its prime. With that being said "Home" is my favorite X-Files episode and it is also one of the best TV episodes ever.

The X-Files is great. I really like te episode Ice. It got worse in the last two seasons but still great show.
Wasn't Ice the early episode that was a lot like The Thing?
I liked that one, but to me it's still a little too much like The Thing, which I think was an intentional shout-out to The Thing.

Yes, it was a lot like The Thing. X Cops, Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man and that one where it is just a crazy killer who kidnaps Scully (can't remember the name of the episode) are also great.

The one about the death fetishist in Minneapolis?
I just watched that one last night.
It was pretty good. That guy looked a lot like Dexter.

X-Files is *Yo-Gabba-Gabbaaaa!!!* (I'm trying it out, ok?)

My fave episodes were in the early seasons. The one with the green photosensitive bugs up in the lumberjack camp was great ... so was the one with the murderer that Mulder had caught when he was fresh out of the academy - the guy with an amphibian arm ... and I also liked the one where he was chasing an unmarked truck across the country because he thought there was an alien on board.

Ooooh and the one with the Amish aliens. My psuedo-gf (long story) tried the 'thumb-rub on hand' thing they would do to seduce people. It worked. (ie I'm easy)

Oooooh and the carnie folk one.

OOOoooooh and the one with the house full of cockroaches.

Oooooooooooh and .. (etc)

I loved the X-files when it was on the air.

I even liked the episodes with Robert Patrick instead of David Duchovny... yeah I know what you're thinking, haha.

The only thing I didn't like was the series finale. Probably the biggest anticlimax of any series I've ever watched on Television.

But yeah, I enjoyed them.
Yeah same. I haven't seen that show in a long time, but I liked it. I was really sad when they got rid of it and the series finally was....kinda disappointing.

I can't remember the episode but there was one where there was a vampire (I think) in a small town and it was actually pretty funny.

Yes, we're known as X-Philes. I watched it more when I was kid with my mom, then again as a teenager when it played in syndication at 2am.
