Well, what were the odds?

Well, to answer your questions in order.

- Well, as far as I know, Montreal's better than most major cities in regards to its attitude towards transsexuals and transgenders.
- Montreal. LOVE this town.
- Anglophone. My French is awful... and I come from a French family. I'm the black sheep in this case.
Welp, if you're in Montreal, have you ever been to the Unity nightclub ?
It's a gay nightclub that is awesome for both dancing and drinking. The music is your generic clubbing music but it's great for dancing.

The place is pretty open to heterosexual people but when I went there, there was A LOT of gay/lesbian couples. Don't be surprise if you go to the dance floor and you see at least 3 gay/lesbian couples kissing (sometime heavily). Also, I've read you're pansexual, mind that there's a lot of muscular shirtless guy there.

The entrance is 5$ (4$ more for the locker room)
The place is good for drinking too, the price are not too bad. For example, two shots for 7$ is pretty good for a nightclub. There's also general cocktails that are pretty female friendly. If you like beers though, expect your typical Coors Light, Corona and Budweiser brand.

Overall, if you like nightclub with a bit more open atmosphere, the Unity nightclub is great. I had a blast when I went there.

Another place I would recommend you to go is the cabaret Mado Bar.
It's a basically a cabaret with dance shows and really funny animator. There just one catch. They're all dragqueens.
The dance show varies per night but it was fantastic when I went there. Everything is flashy and classy there, especially the costume.
If you like dancing, they open up the dance floor after the show.
I had a really fun time dancing with the staff !

Note that if you're cross dressing or transsexual, the entrance is free, so you have no excuse ! :)
The only thing I didn't liked about the place is the drink. They're expensive (8$ a beer, 4.50$ a shot) and they put water in their drinks. I've ordered a pitcher of sangria (that cost me 25$) and after drinking it I've felt like I've almost had nothing.
Also, if you're anglophone, note that the show is in French, but the dancing shows fill 3/4 of the time.

Anyway hope you'll have a good time to both of these places (if you haven't already)! :)
Oh, God, I always wanted to go to the Mado Club, but I never had the opportunity. I still feel like I don't have the right outfit for it... plus, if I went, I'd rather I had a friend with me. Or a date.

On top of that... always wish i could have a job at Mado Club. It'd be an excuse to be feminine as hell and get paid for it. Awesome.

I was mistaken for gay once, and bullied for it. I try not to dwell on it.
Sure! You're the A in QUILTBAG after all.

... oh right, the thread title says LGBT. See, this is why I prefer QUILTBAG. It handles far more groups.

Thank you. Hmm... I think I can guess what some of 'QUILTBAG' stands for, would you mind clarifying it for me, and others who might be confused by the term?

Thank you.

OT:

I'd love to see games depicting more LGBT characters. Love to see more races depicted in games... and not in stereotypical roles. Love to see more women in games... I'd just love to see more diversity in games, period.

But... given how media has handled, or completely failed to handle depicting asexuals... at all...

I'd suspect that by the time videogames (and most modern media in general, really) start depicting asexuals... just about everything else will have been covered by then... and gone over and explored more thoroughly by the time asexuals get even... a passing reference.

Seriously. Check out the tiny list of examples on the TV Tropes page for asexuals. Its like we don't exist as far as the media is concerned.

And... as I said... I was mistaken for gay once, years ago. I got a taste of the bigotry that the LGBT community is faced with all too often. Still, I'd say even that is better than the greeting most asexuals get: complete denial of our existence.

Let's put it this way... the bigotry, at the very least, is an acknowledgement of your existence. Asexuals like me though? To the 'mainstream'... we'd as well be ghosts from what I can see.

Sorry... didn't meant to go into a somewhat angsty, somewhat repetitive ramble there.

Anyway...

Well... I'm around. My Steam account is the same as my Escapist one. Mostly. If you're playing with someone calling themselves 'Doc' on L4D 1, Killing Floor, Civ 5, Endless Space... etc. that's probably me.

Hi :)

I'm also in Montreal (or at least off the west island but close enough), and I just finished my op (Mtf) last year :)

And yeah, I found Montreal to be super awesome with regards to trans.
If you haven't found any already could point you to some good therapists (and one to absolutely avoid).

And another hug to you, hun. *Hugs*

Congratulations! Oooh, that must be awesome!

Still... I'm not sure if I would... sure, I often dream about changing genders permanently and being a woman 24/7, but I still quite like the male genitalia I was born with. Maybe I could take hormones or something and get a more feminine appearance, but still.

... Also, you and I need to be friends, post haste! *Moar hugs!*

No need to worry :) Surgery isn't for everyone, and I do know of some who had gone on hormones but not for surgery, and some who live as female without either.

All depends on you, the decision will come :)

It is more inclusive than LGBT, and it is also easier to pronounce (plus a Quiltbag is an actual thing - a bag full of different kinds of cloth that are then sewn together, as noted by another poster).
You've been co-opted into the Amish Marketing Machine as part of a guerilla marketing campaign.

It makes sense when you think about it (as long as you've dropped acid beforehand).

It was defined farther up this page, but I'll copy/paste in case anyone missed it the first two times.

Queer/questioning
Undecided
Intersex
Lesbian
Transgender/Transsexual
Bisexual
Asexual
Gay

As noted, the L,G,B, and T are identical to the same letters in LGBT, but there are additional letters for other related groups including Asexuals.

Heh heh, thanks!

So far, I've got to say, the Escapist is the most trans-friendliest gamer/nerd site I've ever been a part of. I love it here!

Plus, even if it wasn't, I'd stick around just for Yahtzee and sexy sexy Jim.

The Escapist can at times appear to have an above average LGBT presence. Though I think it may be a trick of perception, as sexuality and gender identity are only really going to be discussed in threads centred around the LGBT community or issues. Naturally these threads will have a larger number of LGBT posters, or at least seam to. Just a thought, I may be completely wrong and the site might actually just a bunch of quiltbags... Which sounds some bizarre insult now that I've typed it.

As for myself, I am a serial lurker. I also fall under the acronyms, but that's all I'm saying. *wonk*
