I recently bought a Canon DSLR, but I am a tyro in digital photography. It would be nice to have more control over my camera and possibly be able to utilize it for stop motion animation. Does anyone know the best free digital photography tutorial on the web? Preferably starting with relatively tame topics like the definition of exposure, ISO speeds, etc, etc, and then becoming more advanced.

Dear Sir or Madam,
Your one word answer to my thread does not strive to answer my question, let alone provide me with any helpful information. You lose! Good DAY, sir!

Anyway, OP.
A quick google search brought me to this website:
http://digital-photography-school.com/

It appears to have oodles of stuff for digital photography for free.

Thank you, but I was specifically looking for someone on the Escapist who has gone through the same process and could recommend the site that helped them out the most. Although Google spews out relevant results, they're usually not the best results.

Everyone else, thanks for your recommendations.

A lot of photography stuff is done with experimentation aswell. However I suggest going to your local bookstore and buying at least 2 different photography books. One on digital and one on 35mm film. The reason for this being the 35mm film book will explain things like exposure times etc in a more detailled and understandable manner. Also keep an eye out for photography documentaries. I learned more in one documentary than i did from 6 months of tutorials. Mostly because the documentaries put it into common language and situations.

Thank you both, these are the best responses yet. Also, in response to jasoncyrus, which photography documentary do you speak of?

It's also worth looking on flickr for groups covering the area you're interested in - for example I was into TiltShift, and some of the groups there had great links for both Tiltshift, and how to fake it if you can't afford the lenses ;)
