I think it's appearances, amount of friends you have and how generally good/bad your school is on tackling bullying that matters. I wouldn't really say it was bullying, but a few guys have made fun of me because of my race and my sheer nerdiness. Those guys have now left my school or stopped teasing me because they just realized they have no hope in the future i.e. getting a decent job.

As for popularity, I've befriended one of the most popular people in my year, and if friends of a friend help you out, it's fine.

As for how good/bad the school deals with bullying, it can vary. When it comes to bullying, my high school is as shit as my toilet after fajita night. Let's say person A punched person B in the face, both persons A and B were to have detention everyday for an entire week.

I go to Derp High School by the way.

I been bullied in my early teens.

I attribute that to me being a foolish asshole.

Ah ok, cheers.

Figure I should add an OT:
Being intimidating? Or out of the way. Either of those.

My school wasn't really much of a bully zone. Most physical altercations were from when one person stole another's boy/girlfriend (catfights ranked #1 in our school's physical altercations by like 70%). Our school was also run by a principal who would take nothing from a disrespectful student. First punch, and the police were already on their way. I thought it was amazing that he never personally got into any fights to stop them. He got pretty close... alot.

I see you live in Eastern Washington, I live in Western Washington! We're like distant neighbors.

I've never really gotten bullied either, I'm not sure why bullies try to pick on people. I think it's to show dominance to compensate for their insecurities and they therefore feel better about themselves. Bullies tend to target people whom are easy targets and will act up when getting bullied. I guess it's about getting attention as well.

I was bullied a little, but never beat up or anything, there was this one guy that hit me really hard once though, but he wasn't really a bully. I don't know, you wouldn't get bullied if your super athletic and attractive. I guess if you fit into the crowd...

I was the skinny (very high metabolism, don't gain a lot of weight/fat or muscle) 4'9'' male (now 6'0'', though still very high metabolism) in my class that had lived a rather sheltered life with a fundamentalist Christian parent whom enforced the "turn the other cheek" sentiment on me when it came to teasing and bullying around me to a rather literal extent. I didn't have much confidence because of such, so I was always an easy target in school. I had friends whom would stick up for me in the worst of times, but when I was alone, I didn't really have any fighting capabilities to speak of.. besides running about like a madman, that is. I got both the physical intimidation and the verbal intimidation, in the end.

So pretty much anything the opposite of such a scenario tends to a reason why an individual would not get bullied. Though the bottom line tends to be, without a close knit group of friends on a regular basis and a strong backbone.. shit goes down.
