I would like to know: are there any stories out there in books, movies, tv shows, fanfiction etc where a person from a fantasy world or a time traveler is sent to the modern world? IF so where?

^Not much what I was thinking of but that is a good movie to check out. I was more thinking along the lines of X character is teleported from his world in our world kind of deal.

Considering the clout Wolf Among Us has gathered... you seriously missed Fables, the source material? Adversary forced them out, they ended up around New York hiding among Mundies.

i'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, but in the 90's Jean Reno stared in two french movies called "Les visiteurs", where a medieval knight is teleported by magic into present (well, if you can think the 90's as present...)

i think the american remake is call just visiting or something like that. but as often with american remake of french movies, the original is way better

Terry Pratchett wrote a story called Final Reward about that. I think it can be found in the book A Blink on the Screen

Now maybe it doesn't count because he's not time-traveled in (magic and monsters exist in our world; we just don't know it) but The Dresden Files is one of my favorite book series I've ever read (it's on #15). The books are absolutely excellent as Harry Dresden is a wizard for hire set in modern-day Chicago. Part Harry Potter (or better yet, part Constantine as user Gizmo1990 stated in another thread if you're familiar with it) and part Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (very humorous books); they are well worth the read.

Butcher (the author) also does a very good job at avoiding the traps that can plague this genre where the enemies have to get more and more powerful each book until eventually it becomes a stupid-level of over-the-topness (see Dragon Ball Z for example).

Absolutely excellent read that I would recommend to just about anyone.

Surprised no one has mentioned Enchanted yet. Then again all the fantasy stuff I know of that follows that formula: "Fish out of water story in New York." Why New York? Because it is famous... and American. Now I am having flashbacks to the Smurfs movie. Ugh...

There was apparently a big craze for those films in the 80s. Beastmaster 2 was one of them...and my goodness me, it was painful.

Yeah...cheaper to film in the street next door than come up with a fantasy set.

He-Man did that as well, or rather the "Masters of the Universe" movie.

IMHO, it would have been a lot more interesting if they came to our world during a zombie or robot apocalypse.

I remember a movie that we watched in my middle school French class that was called "Les Visiteurs". (I think that's how it was spelled) It was basically about a knight that accidentally kills his bride-to-be's father, and to correct this mistake he tries to travel into the past and change his fate. But he travels into the present day instead and meets his descendant.

I would never, ever recommend this movie to anyone, though. God, it was one of the worst movies I've ever been forced to sit through.

And then the teacher forced us to watch the sequel (which sucked even more, mind you) on the grounds that "I'm sure someone here liked this movie and doesn't dare to admit it". (Yeah, no, lady. The only one who liked those movies was you, and don't pretend like that's not true.)

I vaguely remember a film in which some kids thaw out an ice-age man, but no idea what it was called.

I think there was one about two vikings or something like that. But check out Kate and Leopold for a bona fide 'man from the past dealing with modern world' movie.

Come to think of it- Austin Powers counts too.

Oh, and Blast from the Past with Brendan Fraser.

The Last Action Hero also counts as the another world version (characters from cheesy 80's action films come into the real world).

Oh! and Pleasantville does t... oh no wait that's in reverse...

You could argue The Matrix is this, if you want to start bending your mind...

Or even demolition man. Renegade 80s cop is thawed out in a dystopian future

Not specifically what you mentioned, but you hit so many keywords I have to mention it.

You might like the Iron Druid Chronicles book series by Kevin Hearne. It's set in today's modern world, but adopts many fantasy elements from most of the world's religions and mythologies. Follows the adventures of the last Druid (circa 0 AD) in his attempts to survive, since one tends to find many enemies over the course of 2000 years.

[Mild spoiler] Specifically to what you were asking, in book 7- Shattered- a character is brought back from ~2000 years prior and plonked in today's world. His insights and commentaries are both interesting and funny; "They've covered up the Earth, Atticus" in response to seeing a road.

It's a fantastic series; book 1 is called Hounded, and it's worth a read to anybody that likes creative and non-generic adventures with deep characters and clever humour.

Hope you find what you're looking for, though! =)

Those kinds of films are called "time warp" films, where someone from the past/present comes/goes into the present/future. Sadly, my google-fu is failing me today and I can't find appropriate results with those search terms, but did come across this Wikipedia list [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_time_travel_science_fiction] and this imdb list [http://www.imdb.com/list/ls009683955/]. Both describe films with a time travel/out of time element but the majority do seem to be people going backwards!

For going forwards, there is of course "The Time Machine", an adaptation of HG Wells book. There's a 60s version and a modern remake with Guy Pearce, in both of which the Victorian-era inventor of a time machine goes into the future. There is also of course, "Planet of the Apes" which is "modern day" (at least 20th century) astronauts arriving on another world but which turns out to be our own in the distant future.

This long till someone mentions Masters of the Universe? For shame. Though I don't really blame anyone for wanting to forget.

Edit: Shit ninja'd.

There was this really campy TV show in Australia when I was a kid called "Spellbinder".

Basically, these kids at a school camp somehow got teleported to a magical, pseudo medieval land, stole something important (or otherwise pissed somebody off) and fled, but were followed by a "spellbinder". A lot of the humour and drama came from this scary magic lady getting confused by modern technology and terminology.

A guy pulls up in a muscle car and this lady starts talking to him

"What is this... Machine?"
"Ohh, it's me new baby. 550 horses in there"
"Don't be foolish! You couldn't even fit one".

Classic.

There's an episode in the series Supernatural in which this happens.
A demon sends the two main characters into "our universe" were of course, no demons and angels excist, and were the two main characters are two actors in a TV series.
Funny episode :D

Am at work now so won't start searching for it, but if you want the episode name and number, quote me, ask and I'll search it up when I have time.
