right then my favourites are;
Da capo 1&2
shuffle
ever17 (kinda creepy)
hoshizora no memoria (my personal favourite)
little buster
majikoi (only partially translated)
sharin no kuni

edit: i never really liked muv-luv alternative (or whatever the name of the second one is) because there is only one path so everything felt kinda pointless

That's because some say you actually need to play all in chronological order to enjoy Alternative. Some who have played Muv-Luv Unlimited and Extra first, really likes Alternative.

False, there is an English patch for Steins;Gate. Idk about Robotics;Notes. It's a bit new for there to be a full translation just yet.

Atomic Robo! He's a brilliant robot created by Tesla and he fights creatures from beyond the veil of time and space and also Nazis. He has an adventure with Carl Sagan.

THERE IS?!?!

Is it the idevice version or the 8bit version? I know of both of those being complete but have neither an idevice nor a desire to play an 8bit game

If you've got a DS or 3DS, you can buy the fucking great Nine Hours Nine Persons Nine Doors, or 999: http://www.gamerankings.com/ds/961351-nine-hours-nine-persons-nine-doors/articles.html

It's not an eroge and not really light-hearted, but if everyone can ignore your request so can I. Anyway, I don't want to spoil anything, but the great thing about it is that it becomes a fantastic physics/philosophy mindfuck firework in the true ending, but it sets up all the material so well and clear the story never 'loses' you.

Yeah had my eye on this but it's really hard to find here and if I can find it it's bloody expensive.

I would like recommend Hoshizora no Memoria if you really want something light/slice of life and comedy with some light supernatural elements.

Or Snow Sakura. Also slice of life, comedy.

But you'll probably get the unedited version, because the S;G project got "JAST'd".
Seriously, they were too "open public" even though I personally warned them.

I mean the 100% translated but not proofed yet. Unless they did release a complete one without me knowing it. After they got JAST'd I stopped caring, since I already played S;G on my PSP.

Not exactly your standard visual novels, but I rather like: "Don't Take It Personally Babe, It Just Ain't Your Story" and "Analogue, A Hate Story". (And I must not forget to mention that the only "classical" visual novel I played besides these two games is Katawa Shoujo, which I also liked).

I've read Steins;Gate after watching the anime, and while I only got half way through because I felt the anime utterly overshadows it, I never felt there was really any problem with typos or cultural things or anything. The word pervert/hentai is in Japanese still, but that might be AppLocale ballsing up.

well I know a few non eroge VN's

If you wanna play female characters:

Cinders : Based on cinderella has some very interesting endings (can be heavy on the melodrama though(love the sophia character))

Magical Diary : horse hall : You are playing a female mage that has to take classes and socialize (light romance title).

If you rather play male characters :

Digital "a love story"
Don't take it personally, babe, it just ain't your story
Analogue "a hate story"

the last 3 are created by Christine Love(the first 2 of those are even freeware). Analogue is not nice and light though.

I've read those, they're really good. If you haven't you should read Digital: A love story it's by the same people and it's really good.

Those are VNs? I mean yeah, Atlus does text heavy games, but I didn't think any of them could officially be classified as Visual Novels.
