Definitely not a New Jersey thing. I've heard that from people all over the place, John McCain says "Warshington".evenest said:And several of the women in my family pronounce "wash" as warsh--but I think that may be a New Jersey thing.

dude...The Virgo said:A word that I simply can't speak? How about the full name of the protein Titin? It's 189,819 CHARACTERS LONG. THAT'S RIGHT, 189,819 LETTERS! I dare anyone to try and recite the full name. As the video shows, even with it being said at a rapid pace, the video is STILL over eight minutes long.

Imagine being the scientist who discovered it and had to spend about five months trying to write down the name for the scientific journals. And something else I wonder: How does an editor or scientist know if someone misspelled that word?StBishop said:Fuck that shit. The Virgo said:snip
I thought it was bullshit too when I first heard about it. Come to find out, though, it is the official name of the protein Titin.Kheapathic said:I almost want to say; "You're making that up."The Virgo said:snip
It's the largest known single polypeptide chain protein, so of course it's going to have the longest word tagged to its name. Actually, the name given in the vid is just the biochemical name (i.e. just the amino acids listed one after the other). It's full chemical name, if we're being pedantic would be one hell of a lot longer, as all the aa's have longer chemical names attached to them e.g. glycine = 2-amino-acetic acid. Chuck that with thirty-five thousand residues... yeah. But officially, it's not a word, it's a verbal formula, so *shrug*.Kheapathic said:I almost want to say; "You're making that up."
