'Sup.

Mine is more of a hobby atm, written a couple chapters of a generic fantasy...

Really, I'm hoping once I get to college I'll be able to get more serious.

I'm a published author. In the absolute weakest sense of the word -- a novella of mine belongs to a tiny, independant press in my town, who can print "on demand" so to speak. It's only one tiny step above self publishing.

(Off topic: I think anyone who self-publishes just to say they're published is a dick. See Gloria Tesch.)

I post only the best pieces of my work on fictionpress.com (ff.net's ugly, less popular but infinitely better sister site) and occassionally dicuss writing on Gaia Online's writer's forum. Surprisingly enough, a large handful of the authors there are very skillful, helpful writers with a lot of insight to give, which is saying a lot for a site so insipid and full of idiots as Gaia.
So, it's not vanity publishing, precisely? Is it an actual publisher, or a vanity (on demand) publisher?

Darn it, I thought I replied to this thread half an hour ago, but my post isn't here!

Well anyhow, I do write almost avidly! I write mostly poetry now working on a collection, but I have written a few psychological horror stories. Yesterday I actually wrote my first fanfiction (on Warhammer 40K) and all my writings are on deviantart, so if you have a deviantart page, I'd love to see what you've written!

There's nothing better than talking to someone about completely original compositions made without influence of capital want. :D

I've started writing projects a couple of times but I never have the ability to see them through, i've also written a couple of poems when I get depressed, but i'm not like a proffesional or anything... You can hear a poem if you want...

I once wrote a 12-issue script for a comic book, but never found an artist for it. Probably would have been sued if it were published anyway.

Novice writer here, finished one story, failed in finishing many more. School+laziness=... where was I going with this?

I would very much consider myself I writer. I write novels and poetry. It's my first hobby, with video games and RPing being my second and third.

Interestingly, I've found running tabletop RPs to be WONDERFUL inspiration for fiction.

I'm aspiring to be a major writer and even have a few books already in the works. Mostly fiction novels but I have others plan.

I actually do write. I have on my computer...fourteen story ideas, two of which I am currently focusing on. The one I'm really driving at is a fantasy. I've been posting it on DeviantART, and I've asked my brother if he could get in touch with my God-sister about publishing it, since she works in that area.

Award winning, technically speaking (hey, the prize bought my carbon fiber bike). No novels in print, just short fiction, one non-fiction (out of print) on games, one story sold but not published yet to a miniatures game company. But it's a long walk from being published to quitting the day job.

I'd love to snag a job as a game writer someday. Despite some of the difficulties inherent in the medium (Extra Credits had a great video about that), it remains one of the growing arenas for speculative fiction. Truthfully, the Golden Age days of SF writers making a living from short fiction are firmly in the rear view mirror. But videogames have a ready, engaged, and most importantly growing audience. Plus it has all the excitement that new media usually have (a fact that's easy to miss among the growing pains). Heck, sometimes you even get regular paychecks. For a writer, you can't beat that with the cliched stick.

Ive had my hand in fantasy and fiction for a while. My stories seem to have a habit of never being finished after a few hundred pages. :p

I used to write all the time and I enjoyed it.

But life got in the way and I haven't gotten the chance to pick it up consistently, I think the last thing I wrote was a short story, and I never got it sent anywhere, it was just for fun. I've written a few short plays for local theatres, but nothing major has come of it, other than them being acted out and a few positive responses. I used to write fanfiction all the time, I never posted though, and I had quite a few stories, until I lost them when my computer crashed., twas a never sad day.

I've been meaning to pick it back up, but I've never found the time, despite being told I'm good at it, I don't mean to brag, personally I don't think it's that good, but hey, whatever.

I wish.
I have a lot I could write about but my damn brain half the time can't formulate what I'm thinking when I try to write it down.

Well, I wouldn't consider myself a 'writer' however, I'm trying to get into it. I'm currently working on a story right now but, I have no real way of knowing how bad or good (most likely bad) my writing is.

If someone wouldn't mind reading a part of it to tell me what's wrong and so on, that would be appreciated.
