I'm moving house at the moment so I have to pack up all my stuff.

I have about 2 suitcases and 3 duffle bags filled with games. Not including the 190-something games on steam.

Yes it is overwhelming. I have been playing games since 2 years old so I guess it's normal to have all these games. My gaming magazine collection is equally as intense.

I still have playstation magazines from around 1998 - 2000 era. I still read them, it's nice to visit the past and see all the titles we grew up playing.

A little bit. I don't have a ridiculously huge collection (though I have in the past), but I still have many more games than I'll ever be able to play or finish. I hang onto them because I never know what I'll want to play next, but I also know there's some games on this shelf that I'll literally never play.

Thanks to the slew of indie bundles, and Steam sales, as well as random gifts from my adoring public, I have WAY too many games, including 4-5 dozen I haven't even gotten around to trying, it's pretty daunting really.

I go back through mine regularly for nostalgia's sake :D
I do this too and since I play on a PC and dont own a console I cant sell what i dont want. I have completly lost track of how many games i have and when i get bored and want to play smething just to play I rummage through a box full of games and the first one that catches my attention gets loaded and played. but sometimes i will see a video on youtube or something using a game I own and I will go and play it.

Ah I know what your going through, my PS3 game count has soared to the point were I only have two left, it rests easier on my mind not having many. My Steam count has dropped as well to three, it would be four but League of Legends takes up a mental space so it's three for now.

Overwhelmed? Nah.

But every once in a while I will sit back, observe my collection, and simply smile.
This . I love having a giant library of games , althought it is a pain to sort out in alphabetical order.

But i do become overwhelmed when i think that at some point i'm going to have to replay all these games at least once since most of my games are rpgs . Let's hope i can live long enough to retire from work and play then all one by one back to back . A happy day that will be.

I have too many unfinished games. Period. And I only own three platforms; it's just that one of them is Steam...

Nope, Nick Tesla.

I've owned a current-gen system for slightly over a year now so my game number is still small. Between my sister and I, we have maybe 15 games. So, yeah, still manageable.

Same thing is happening to me at the moment. There is only enough room for the exact amount of games I have in the place they are stored. And I'm hoping to get another for Christmas, and 2 of my games are in another house, so when they all get back I'll have to trade some in if I want to keep them all in the space they are. It didn't happen at all with my PS2 collection or PSP collection but with my PS3 collection I would prefer to have as few games as possible to cover all my preferences in gaming, which is proving difficult. Like you , there is no logical reason for this, just an odd feeling I have.

Nope.

I have tons of games. And because I have this strange ability to play games with literally no reply value tons of times just because I enjoy them so much, I always want to be able to go back. I just play games when I'm in the mood for them.

EDIT: Hell, when I see my collection, I actually feel happy because of the memories it brings in of stories and characters and experiences.
I was going to say pretty much this. So thanks ZeroMachine.

I only trage in or sell things when I don't enjoy them. But the good stuff, I keep until time eats it away. I still have my PONG Console. Not catridge, console. I still have my Atari 2600, my ColecoVision, my original NES, all the SEGA Genesis and it's 13 add-on parts.... you get the idea.

I have a similar problem. I try to decide what to play and just focus on one game at once. But, my backlog I less checked has about 70+ games I haven't finished. Many of them I haven't even played yet. They are also mostly lengthy JRPGs that I nabbed up for low prices whenever I see them.

I've tried many methods to clear the backlog such as random selection or just playing whatever strikes my fancy. Sometimes it works but other times I simply stare at the wall cause I can't decide what game I want to play at the moment.

1. you can now be more picky and play only the best games
I like this solution. Generally, I avoid getting games that are the typical "beat this game once and then never touch it again" affairs... unless they're on sale on Steam. Quality over quantity. To me, if you don't want to replay a game at least a few times, it's just not worth dropping $60 on.

I have only 26 games on my PS3 and only a handful are unplayed so I would say my game load is quite manageable since I only buy really good games and only buy maybe 3 or 4 games a year.

If I were to compare it with my friends, nope. I have a friend who has 100 games for his Xbox 360 (I checked it out on Xbox.com) and I have round about a third of that.

I only had 5 games on the PS2 while others I knew had drawers and closets full of them where clothes are meant to go into.

There isn't a whole lot of games in the market I don't have and really want, I actually can't remember I time where I wanted a game really, REALLY badly. Once I'm done with Skyrim (should take about 300 hours play time so give me 2 weeks) my console will get covered in dust even more and all I can do is wait for Mass Effect 3.

I don't feel overwhelmed by my collection but that's because I tend to only play 1 single player game at a time, whilst playing said game I will continue playing my usual online/multi-player games (SWTOR, Fifa, CS etc). Once I've completed that single player game I will decide whether it has the re-playability value to stay in my collection, if not it goes back to the shop for a trade in and then that money goes towards another game.

L.A Noire and Borderlands fight to the death to occupy my time. Soon Skyrim and AC:R will soon join the brawl.

Well, sometimes I look at my collection of PS2 games and think "Do I REALLY have that many?" But it's not overwhelming. Don't even play the things anymore, and yet I don't have the heart to sell them. Oh well.
