I know there have only been like four; Assassin's Creed, The First Templar (It seems to be Assassin's Creed in opposite world), The Cursed Crusade... and one other I can't think of right now.

I already have the feeling like this is going to be "the thing" for a while. Anyone else getting that feeling? I'm just pre-emptively out of fucks to give about this setting.

I still enjoy them, compared to World War 2 games its still a relatively unexplored concept.... plus the Assassin's Creed series rocks!

Aren't you getting tired of :
WW2 games
WW 2.5 games (aka Modern Warfare and such)
Racing games (there are way more of these than crusade games)
Shoot-Aliens games
Shoot-Zombies games
WoW expansions
Stealth games
People that makes topics like this games
Sports games

....

So there was few crusade/templar games. So what? There is way more repeated topics in games than that and you are getting "sick" of four games you know (and you don't know one of them title....was it Down of War?)

If they are atleast semi accurate with their depiction of the crusades then I will be happy (ie not use magic and mythical creatures)

The only game I have ever played that about the crusades is Assassins Creed. (and Medieval 2 Total War Kingdoms Crusade module; but that has flamethrowers >:D)

There are a large amount of games based around that time period but really not many actually set during the events.

Assassin's Creed was four years ago and I haven't even heard about those other titles, so I'm not convinced it's the new trend. And I hope it doesn't become one.

I liked the period of the Crusades. It spans a long time, each Crusade (from the third onward) was vastly different from the others, hence giving us plenty of scenarios, and it's a conflict that shaped today's world, only with swords and knights instead of MG-32's and nazis. What's not to like?

Plus, Knightly Orders. Those guys kicked ass.

The Crusades were pretty cool and all, except that one time they used kids. That was a pretty big mistake.

No, I'm not sick of them. The Crusades aren't as culturally sensitive or as well documented as WW2 so you developers can be more creative.

The Crusades are still pretty much unexplored with only Assassin's Creed really delving into it. I recall there being "Crusader" levels in Dante's Inferno and another game (damn, forgot what it's called, it was an X-Box game and pretty obscure).

A Crusades setting is always awesome... I just like watching Christanity go through its "let's be complete dicks to everyone" phase. It's pretty interesting

I think this is the only time "Am I the only one?" would apply. 4 games. Big fuckin' whoop. That's NOTHING. The Crusades were from 1095 and 1291, and there's only basically 4 games actually set in them (M2TW doesn't exactly count since Crusades are only a small part, except in Kingdoms, but even then it doesn't actually feel very crusadey). There are probably hundreds of games about WWII, and that setting still hasn't been entirely explored. However, US and Soviet campaigns have been done to death.

Bring on more crusader games.

There are tropes that are Waaaaaaaaaaaay more overused than the Crusades, there's still plenty of angles to explore with this unlike say, World War 2, or Herp derp Aliens Invade Earth.
Don't you mean "Herp derp Aliens Invade New York?"

Well I'm bored of Assassin's Creed and I didn't really give much of a fuck about the storyline, so yeah.

I honestly can't say I'm tired of this theme because I haven't really played anything on that list.
Well yeah, Assassin's Creed. But only the first one takes place during the crusades anyway.

So no, can't say the crusades as a theme has been overdone for me.
