What the fuck are you talking about?
Maybe you've confused us with the fucking care bears or something?
Seriously, no one here as a clue what you are talking about.
Hell, i'm now tempted to set up a thread intilted- 'Anyone else hate American ignorance?' based off one person.
I was right there with you up until that last sentence. Then I was like :< because I'm an American.
Read it carefully, i'm not having a go at Americans, but just his method of british cuteness.
He decided to genralize a whole nation over one word in one authors book, so i made that point just to show how unfair it was.
Honestly, Americans... so ignorant... :p
Right guy I know your being ironic, fnaw fnaw fnaw, and all that but I actually do understand what hes talking about. Hes refering to the way all of our folklore sort of sounds "random in a simple sort of way". Like Brownies, Boggarts and Red Caps.

well being British i would agree with the majority of my fellows here, i would not use "cuteness" to describe myself or my countrymen, ever, maybe cynical and able to complain about anything (all vital skills) but most defiantly not cute!

I'm American and I'm fucking confused. What do they make cute? I mean, there's a lot of cute British girls, but that's just the same everywhere.

You just failed to grasp a British Comedy staple named 'irony'. Allow me to spell it out for you:

He refuted the entire argument of the OP by satirically pointing out he was judging our entire culture by a single children's book, clearly the only thing of our modern culture his intellect could grasp.

Topic: Entire British Culture being cute
Source: Single Children's Fantasy Book Series

Counter

Topic: Entire American Population Ignorant
Source: Single ignorant American

As someone who loves British comedy from the 70's and 80's and a little from the 90's and 00's, I can say that I have not noticed whatever it is that you are referring to.

Er... Whut? What the hell is cute about about our culture? A couple of names from what was originally a book for children?
No doubt it's been said before, but our culture is dark, cynical, sarcastic and drunk. If it's ever cute, we did it by accident or ironically.

seriously? we brits don't make anything cute, and harry potter is NOT a definitive way to round up british pop culture, that would be the shitty soaps like eastenders, or if you want british nerd culture then watch dr.who (actually, just watch dr who)

The British are one of the most cynical people in the world.
With the lack of sunshine, can anyone really blame them for being sad, miserable husks of human flesh? I don't think so.

I wouldn't say "cuteness" but I think there's an endearing foreignness to a fair amount of British names for places. Places like Trafalgar Square, anything ending in -shire, etc. I'm sure British people would find American names (particularly those of indigenous origin) equally amusing.

And Welsh pretty much sounds like elvish, I'd never even heard the Welsh language until the whole brouhaha over AV and the patronizingly simple explanation video. I thought the Welsh are supposed to be rednecks, why to they get to be elves?

Your superlative use of irony once again is quite first rate. Please, I implore you, pat yourself on the back in my stead for the medium of the internet denies me that luxury.

Coincidentally but to actually stay on topic I'd like to add that Space Marines are the epitome of British Cuteness.

As an Englishman can I just say WHAAAAAAA?!?!

I've never heard of this making everything cute thing at all, ever.
And with the example of muggles, I always thought it sounded more derogatory than cute.
What he said. Irrelevantly I love your avatar. Rewatched that episode today (watching the films soon!).

OT: Uhh, maybe if you gave more examples in the OP it would be a lot easier to see where you're coming from.
