Anyone else have problems with the Escapist Website?

It's been about 3 days now that I've been having problems while viewing the Escapist. No idea if the site has been getting high volume lately, but it's been running extremely sluggish for me. Freezes, browser crashes, and display errors wreck havoc everytime I come here lately.

At first I thought it was something on my end, but it's ONLY on the Escapist that I'm experiencing problems. Cleaned out my cookies and cached files thinking some old cache might be mmessing with the site, but that didn't do a thing. Oh and it's happening in IE, Firefox, and Chrome so I'm really not sure whats the problem.

So anyone else notice the site running extremely sluggish as of late or is it just me?

Its not you, it happens to most of us. Actually, this site hasn't failed for me in a while...

I have problems running videos sometimes, and there are times when I can't even view the website at all. It's not just you.

I have had a similar issue and yes, its frustrating when no matter how often I clean out my cache, cookies, etc I end up with the video player not loading or the page is seriously distorted, often with red x's appearing for pictures and such. Im not sure why it happens either.

I don't and have never really had a problem with the escapist, the one problem I had was with loading videos and that was because I didn't have the latest version of whatever player it is.

*shrinks in fear in a corner* "no I never have a problem with the website.. the escapist is all holy, and all knowing" *flees in terror, before being struck in the back by a yahtzee sprite*

Yes, it is frequently extremely laggy, and sometimes bugs out wierdly. Some of this can be explained by computer/OS/browser problems or bugs, the rest by a lot of online activity. I've even seen the Escapist temporarily cease to exist. Yes, you heard me. Completely gone from the internet, as if there were never any such thing as escapist magazine dot com. It's only happened twice in the, uh, *counts on fingers* year and five months I've been here, and didn't last long, but it sucked when it did.

Yeah, very often buttons won't work, videos won't load and probably the most common one is having my internet reject the damn webpage.

I haven't had any problems with it and I hope I don't because this is one of my favourite sites.

I think it has to do with that massive Darksiders ad that's been running. My browser had yet to crash, but I've had lengthy lock-ups. Never happened before they started running that ad.

I would lay the blame on a combination of the insane amounts of traffic and the insane amount of ad-spamming in general (not quite as bad as Dailymotion, but pretty close). At any given time, there are 3+ ads running in the background, ads in front of the videos, promos at the end of videos, etc. It's a lot for my computer to keep up with. Also I think sometimes the site just bugs out for some browsers.
