Anyone else have this problem with music?

My friends have recently commented on my apparently insane music collection.

Not so much the music itself, but I'll try to explain: throughout my entire time listening to music, I have NEVER actually listened to or even HAD one full album.

My iTunes consists almost entirely of random artists with only 1 or 2 songs under their names. I never like the vast majority of songs a certain band/artist produces, it's always just a song here, a song there.

So does anyone else have this habit, or is it just me being a total freak?

No I buy the physical disk of every band I like because I like the novelty of having it...<.<

Nope. I'm an album nut. I do love a good album. It's great finding one that you can just listen to the whole way through without changing any of the songs.

I used to have this thing (not sure it is a problem) with music before I was introduced to Metal, a musical style I deeply enjoy listening to. Perhaps it is something similar with you.

Same, steadily growing collection of cds in my room.

It would drive me nuts if I only had one or 2 songs from an artist, you miss out on an insane amount of good material if you're only picking out the singles and whatnot.

I tend to buy physical disks myself, because aside from Steam I don't trust digital downloads of any sort of media (not because of computer safety, merely because of the fact that if I accidentally delete something or the company goes under then it's my money that gets wasted, and that's just unfair). So I usually have full albums worth of music from each artist, and artists who I really like I tend to get all of their albums where possible.

That being said, I do also have some songs where it's just one or two from a decent artist, and that's all. For example, I only have about three songs by Foo Fighters on my laptop, and none of their albums, but I still like the band. I just don't have any of their albums or anything. So no, you're not a freak or anything like that. If you want to listen to particular songs and nothing else, then that's your prerogative, no-one else's.

You ain't crazy and there are a few people I know that do this and I also like certain songs from artists more than their others but I prefer to get the whole album myself.

Certain artists I have quite a bit of music from, but I will only have one or two from certain artists.
I have a mix of both, basically.

Nah single tracks is the shit! A lot of artists have one or 2 tracks per album that are good and the rest just filler. And you don't want filler clogging up you library.

Most of my library is like that, I have around 10 artists with many songs, then 50+ with 1-3 songs.

I do this. I have hundreds (probably thousands now) of different artists on my iTunes account, but most only have 5-10 songs to their name, I just cherry pick the best stuff.

Absolutely. With the exception of Soundtracks the only complete albums I've owned are CDs from before iTunes ruled my life and even then I usually have half the songs unchecked, if not more. I have the most random taste in music. You don't even know...

I'm an album guy all the way.

I've never downloaded a song in my life. Though in this day and age, it's probably me who's the weirdo in that regard.

Its more I hear a song and I instantly like it, therfore I listen to it. I try to listen to other stuff by them, but it doesent work. Songs in my library include wwe soundtracks and game intros, as well as songs that just click. I dont know why I cant listen to any of the other stuff, but I think its where I dont know the song at all.

How is it a problem? You don't like some of the music, ergo you don't spend money on something that is 90% useless. You're not being unusual in any way.

If I can, I buy the CD. If I can't, I buy one of the albums online and download the mp3s from such.

I never had much of a problem with that. There's always been bands that I like enough to listen to their entire album. Even back in the days when I used to like whatever the Billboard Top 100 shoved down my throat.

Haha you're the polar opposite of me!
I did used to do this though, then a very good friend lent me some albums and I got really into buying them myself. CDs that is, although recently I've found it to be much quicker to just buy the albums on Amazon mp3...

I know loads of people like you so don't worry about it :p
Although, no offence intended but, I do find it slightly irritating when I try to go through a friend's iPod or something and find an artist I like, only to find that they don't have that one album track I love!
