I'm the same, kinda. When I hear a song from an artist I've never heard before I'll get an album and listen to it all the way through at least once, I have a pretty good memory too so I can just browse my music folder and click on albums, knowing they'll be (or won't be) some songs in there I like. I like finding albums I can listen to all the way through though, a lot of the time though I'll like around 50% of the songs on an album, and listen to them a lot, unless it's a band like Radiohead, where I've listened to every single album and only like 4 songs.

Although, no offence intended but, I do find it slightly irritating when I try to go through a friend's iPod or something and find an artist I like, only to find that they don't have that one album track I love!
I find this with my own iPod too. It's ridiculous. I'm constantly hearing new tracks from bands I like, and loving the 'newly discovered' song.

Like today I went through my iPod while at Uni trying to find something decent to listen to, only to discover I didn't even have "Burn it to the Ground" by Nickelback on there. I need to update my iPod more often.

I used to do that, but I changed now. I no longer download music (unless it's just like a random song on youtube made by a random guy, and he gives us permission to download it).

But seriously, you probably went into the itunes store and listened to the samples of a bunch of tracks and said "No, I don't like this artist/album except for this one song". But trust me, you should buy the album anyway, because if you just listen to the full songs a few times, I think you'll start to enjoy the songs more.

I like older prog rock, and a lot of those bands put out "concept albums" that really do have to be listened to in their entirety in order to make any sense. Brain Salad Surgery leaps immediately to mind---you can't appreciate the point of "Karn Evil 9" without it.

Not really i have all but 1 album from my favourite band 3 Inches of Blood, and even considering i'm currently into getting as much game and anime music as my iPod will hold, i still try and get as much as possible from the same game e.g.Phoenix Wright AA.

I have a friends with a music collection like that. I personally have the exact opposite, if I have something by a band I probably have everything by them, and I probably like most if not all of it. I usually listen to things an album at a time, though lately I've just been shuffling about my 80+ gigs to find stuff I don't usually listen to.

I judge when I look through a friends album and see only a couple songs from each band. How on earth would you really get into and understand a bands sound by only listening to a few songs?

Yeah, I do the same thing.. Occasionally I have full albums, usually from rock and metal artists (I have all the System of a Down albums, most of Avenged Sevenfold's [HGGGBBLEEGGHH], and some from several post-rock bands)..

I could only see two choices when I realised that I was in that situation with my one iPod. Leave it that way and forever be searching for songs I don't have, or become obsessive compulsive about storing every song on every album by every artist I had so I would always know where to find things... Don't go down the road I took, you can never turn back...

I've only really started to buy full albums in the past two years or so - mostly if I hear a song I like from an artist, I will only look for that song - unless I found them in sales or charity shops. Therefore whilst my iPod is now filling up with albums, I still have one folder labelled "Single Tracks" which is about 1,500 songs long. XD

I like albums of specific groups, but I have many individual songs as well. You are not a freak, just selective.

No I buy the physical disk of every band I like because I like the novelty of having it...<.<
These two posts sum it up for me+what you do OP except to a lesser extent.

I'm getting into the habit of buying albums and learning to enjoy everything an artist can offer especially if their albums are released on a slow basis

The + was for the fact that I sometimes hear a Pop song or just a random song from an artist I don't like/loathe/don't listen to and if I like it that much, I put it on my I-Pod.

Like 'Pretty Girl Rock' and 'Take on Me.' Only song from each artist and will be.

That pretty much the opposite of my music collection. I have a ton of albums (mostly on CD) and very few singles or individual songs. While an album doesn't have to be a concept piece or one cohesive piece of music, if an artist can't put out a solid albums worth of material then I have trouble taking them seriously as artists at all.

Nah single tracks is the shit! A lot of artists have one or 2 tracks per album that are good and the rest just filler. And you don't want filler clogging up you library.
I would love to know what you listen to if you think this is a valid statement about albums.
