Sometimes I comment, sometimes I don't. Really, whether I comment or not depends on the thread, not how many people are there.

Pretty much what everyone else here has said. I'm rather reluctant to post in a thread even if its only up to two pages. Reason being is that after a certain point everything that can be said about a subject has been said and the odds are that my opinion is shared by someone else who's already posted.

Basically if I don't feel like I have something to add to the conversation I'll bypass posting.

Sometimes I'll comment on a quote train I find from skipping to the end (if it looks like it needs resolving/I want to support one of the people in it) but otherwise why bother? Chances are you've been ninja'd and no one will read your post.

Yes, I'll admit I do tend to stray far far away from the larger threads, just as I would stray from a game with many people. I'm just scared of large groups.

Wa hey! So it turns out I'm not just a truncated little bean.
Thanks for the input, lads. And possibly ladettes.

Usually if there's a long thread about a topic that I find important I'll still reply, even if my post goes unnoticed at least I have expressed my feelings on the matter.

That said, I'd never go to the effort to make a mammoth sized post if hardly anyone was going to see it. To be fair though I do that even in small threads and not get noticed, it all depends on luck I guess.

wouldn't this be funny if this got huge?
This should be our cruel and evil plan against the OP[footnote]No offense OP[/footnote]

OT: If something is more than 4 pages long and not one of those 'What's your favourite ...' threads I normally don't post.

Yeah, because then there'll be at least one long and complicated flame war.

Yeah, because then there'll be at least one long and complicated flame war.
Flame war? It's not like I'm trying to initiate a mean-spirited argument or anything, I was just over-exaggerating a non-existant plan for the creation of hypocrisy-potential (what with some people saying "I never post on a thread *this* long" when the thread is *this+1* pages long). I wasn't actually going to do it nor was I intending it to be taken so seriously, so I do apologise for my poor wording but I'm being honest that I had no intention of starting a flame-war to any degree.

I read the entire thread if it's ~7-8 pages, beyond that I either miss it or read the first few pages and the last few pages. But if I do that, I don't think I have yet contributed, because someone in the middle has probably already made my point or I lose interest because it becomes so convoluted I can't care anymore.

Indeed, neither was it my intention to describe your words as one, so of course I apologize for any wording that might have led you to this erraneous conclusion, and I would like to add that perhaps my being a non-native English-spekaer may have contributed to that impression. Again, I apologize.

Though I must add that I find it mildly humorous that due to our responses towards eachother we have contributed to the very thing I had no intention of actually doing (the "large-thread-against-large-threads" thing, not the flame-war thing).

Indeed, though I would add that since we are only on the second page, there is yet a chance for the thread to die in if not its infancy, then at least its childhood, as it were.

I agree mostly with the OP, I'll only read through tens of pages when its something that really interests me. If it's a thread about how Nintendo basically keeps remaking Mario 64 or about how bears typically defecate in a forested area, I wont bother.
