My girlfriend picked up this game for me as an early Christmas present. I've been playing it for a bit and, I must say, it's one of the best RPGs I have played in a very long time. I'm so stoked on it that I might submit a review for it on this site (new member here, just joined!). If you're a fan of games with 2D/3D blends as well as deep and intriguing battle systems, I highly recommend trying it out. Or am I the only one? :p

I never really thought it was that good, and I found it on sale when it was about a month new so I decided to save some money and grab it. I was kind of disappointed. It was okay, but I just wasn't feeling it. Maybe I'll get it again and try but I just couldn't get into it. So no, I'm not playing it =/

Well it's more or less a hit or miss title from what I've noticed. For heavy JRPG fans, it's a must have. It does take a little time to get sucked into, and it may not be everyone's cup of tea. For fans of the game, PSN offers tons of disc based add ons such as new dungeons, items, and costumes, so there's tons of extra nitty gritty to get into.

@s69-5:
Impossible you say? Where do you live? The game wasn't too hard to find in America (my girlfriend found it for around 25 bucks at our local GameStop) and it's available at most places online for around the same price. Trinity Universe? I'm not familiar with that title, what's it like?

What do you get when you cross the Disgaea series and Atelier series into a humour filled dungeon crawler involving 1000 hit combos and over the top specials?

Answer:

How did I miss this?! I'm familiar with the Disgaea series, but Atelier doesn't ring a bell. The battle system looks very interesting, and I'm digging the cartoony graphics, reminds me of Eternal Sonata. I'll have to check it out. PS3?

I had it once upon a time. I thought it had a good story and some nice humor, but it was infuriating how many hidden things you had to backtrack to in order to get a good ending, and with no sense of direction at all.

For some reason, I tend to enjoy games like that. It's just interesting what I can find just on instinct alone.

Well its nice within reason but when I have to go back to the first map on a level about 5 away from it based purely on instinct and check every single little pixel on the map to find a hidden event that will horrendously effect the ending if I dont get it between mission three and four on the current level then things are getting rather out of hand.

The weak story (for me at least the characters were unlikable which made what they were doing boring) and a battle system that took an eternity and ten years ruined the game for me. As a fan of Gust titles (yay for Ar Tonelico cameos) and Darkstalkers I wanted to like it but I just couldn't. There are so many JRPG's doing the exact same thing only better that I just never had the heart to finish it.

Still as someone above pointed out this game was EXTREMELY love/hate with no wiggle room in the middle, probably more than any other game I've ever played. So this is an exceptional case of personal opinion, even more so than usual opinion.

@s69-5:
Atelier Rorona looks exceptionally heavy as well, I'm digging it.

@Inodio:
Well let me ask you first, what kind of RPGs do you favor? As stated above, it's a hit or miss type game.
