Turns out that Bioshock 2 wont have any LAN. I'd wager the console version wont feature any kind of split screen either.

This is an example of how developers these days truly are so far up their own asses over online, they're tasting their own tonsils.

Most games these days rarely feature split screen, and if they do, usually it's capped at 2 players, and without a bot option.

By the looks of things, LAN is fading out too, not to mention bot support as well for PC games.

Before anyone says it, I know it's just business and there's nothing I can do about it, but hey, aren't communities like this for uniting in pointless rants against this kind of horse crap?

Your thoughts...

Edit: Another one I hate is franchises getting lazy with single player campaigns because yet again all they want is us all online... (Modern Warfare 2... there I said it!)

Killzone 2 would've been the best FPS of 2009 if it had split-screen.

It didn't...

The one reason I loved the first Killzone was because you could plat split-screen against bots.

Same with Time Splitters 3.

Games just aren't as fun anymore... not for split-screen players.

I can agree, but I'll also disagree.
Some games are honestly not meant to be split screened. Ever split screened Dynasty Warriors? Trust me, you wouldn't want to. It's not really that fun.
Borderlands is another game that's just not that fun to split screen.

I will agree the lack of LAN can be a pain in the ass, but maybe the devs have a reason for it.

I play some games online, but most I just want for single player campaigns. It is where the story is and everything. I get bored being killed by people playing the games online for a year before I finally get around to it.

I feel like people are just going to start getting completely fcking tired of this shit and give up on gaming on anything ande after 2004. That'll learn 'em.

Your Preaching to the choir I'm just thrilled someone else out there misses the split screen days and the bot options. I'm not completely opposed to online play, but why can't we have both features? Why can't we have the bots and the split screen AND the online it would be nice for us as the consumers to have all the things we want in the products we are paying for but alas the world is imperfect. If they make games only online capable then for two people to play together they both have to buy a system, a live membership, and of course they both have to buy a copy of the game they make more money this way.

Bots were fun as a way to practice and get better. Split Screen i enjoy but at times my eyeballs can't keep up. Ubisoft with their new policy is shoving a plot poin McGuffin up their own asses.

I can understand why it would be annoying for some, however my tv is too small for splitscreen, my room is too small for more than 2 people, and I have a really nice connection.

I thoughorly enjoy playing co-op Gow, Gow2, Army of Two, and Ao2-40th Day splitscreen. It's been a regular Friday event for my brother and I for a while now. It really is fun to have a live teammate to play through the story with rather than have to rely on a questionable AI (Berzerker stages anyone?)

As far as being required to have two Live accounts... So what, creating a free account right there on the spot only takes a moment and is good enough to get going.

I don't have a problem with games having online vs modes; apparently a lot of people really enjoy them. But I DO have a problem with the recent, nearly absolute attention they've been getting by devs. Kind of like reality TV, it's a lazy way of doing things.

I agree. I remember the most fun I had with split-screen was with GoldenEye on the N-64 I believe. I was in college and we would play in the dorms all night with 6 or 7 players trading out for the 4 screen split. Awesome fun. Slappers only was the best!

Online would be fine.... except for the fuckwads that tend to inhabit it. At least when you played LAN the offending wanker could not hide behind the security of anonymity and distance. To be honest, I find most people to be utterly loathsome and have zero desire to spend my leisure time with them.

i play on lans quite often (obvious advantages in the metagame ;D ) and it makes me MAD that they just silently drop lan, just because that way they can not have us all nice and unter controle in their huge online circus >_<
