Oh yes. A game being "dumbed down" according to hardcore PC fans usually means it's being made more fluid and user-friendly for us normal people. That's why I don't agree with the hate Dragon Age 2 is gathering from PC fanboys. It isn't being dumbed down, it's being made a hell of a lot less clunky.

No it means it was made easier, which every developer will admit they did, so the game can be picked up by every gamer/non-gamer alike.
So the games are easier, take less tactics and thinking when playing them, ergo the phrase "dumbed down", then people like to think they were called dumb and take up arms to battle in the mighty console wars!!

And for the DA1 vs DA2 comparison(PC version), in DA1 the battles were no joke you really needed to time your attacks and work out who stands where and use all of your party skills to survive, in DA2 demo I managed to play through the entire thing with a mage only(others waiting in a corner), due to the new system you can outrun all melee attacks thus taking away 80% of all danger, maybe the full game will work differently but the demo was extremely easy.

Now tell me you'd be able to do ANYTHING I just did in that video? yes it DOES matter, ever been frustrated when an enemy shoots your back and you can't turn quick enough to kill him? with a mouse you can spin as quick as your wrist enables you to, and even quicker with more sensitivity.

This video actually covers many bases, this is a DEDICATED SERVER mod. That's the point of dedicated servers. What you say "MW2 had on consoles" is a useless type of dedicated server. Dedicated servers are hosted by people, normal people, and the server owner can change the server settings to whatever they want.

Once again, I MADE that map. I added it to a dedicated server, I changed the settings... and hey look! That knife and those guns aren't even the ones that came with the game! They're skinned! Mods are everywhere, I have played hundreds of them because they're fun as, mods and customisation of a game are different things. Customisation is inside the game, mods are separate products made using the engine.

I listen to music while playing some games, it depends if sound is that needed. Also I can Shift-Tab and browse the net (Steam overlay) when I'm dead and waiting for the round to end.

As for what you said for CONS:
The first two points I made as additions to the first guy's post.

I can touch type and NEVER EVER EVER look at the keyboard while playing a game unless I have silly commands bound to the numpad like "bind KP_HOME "Kill; say "I regret nothing"" or something moronic like that... or admin commands to ban or do silly things to people who are ruining my server.
You always have your hands on the keyboard, pinky on CTRL, thumb on space, middle 3 on w/s/a/d, e and r are not hard to find from there if you've played for over an hour. Also changing weapons using numbers, I have SW bound to jump so I can bunnyhop and do things that custom server gamemodes require.

personally my computer never has problems with compatibility, but I understand it's an issue for people that don't have a crazy computer like me.

yeah lanning is good and bad at the same time, like I said.

What you do is use the internet and look up your problem, things that run on steam generally just need to be re-verified to fix missing or corrupted files and a defrag of those files might help, both you can do from the steam library (right-click<Properties)
I've had a few issues in that regard but have fixed them within a few minutes using basic research.

If you don't think these pros affect you well don't play PC! But don't argue that PCs aren't better, because it's fact in certain areas. Consoles are only better for plug in and play and local multiplayer.

Here was me listening to EVERY OTHER PC gamer saying a mouse is more accurate ... now it's just faster. I can set the settings to 11 10 on cod and it spins too fast, so it's not about speed.

Yeah, you can get a 5,600 DPI mouse set it and the control panal to max and spin faster but it's usless, you have next to no chance to actually hit him.

If you get shot in the back it's already too late 'cos it only takes a few bullets to kill.

Sorry, I have nothing more to say about dedicated servers than whoopie!. I have as much care for dedicated servers as you do about bob the squirrel in my local park.

Mods = customisation, your changing the game to suit your needs/wants.

I already covered music and such during games.

If I want to browse the web I wouldn't be on my console.

So you can touch type, if you don't like that little gizmo that goes on a controller then use a headset. Free one with 360 and PS3 one costs like £5.

I said I know about wasd and all that jazz, it's something like playing starcraft 2 and having to press three different buttons within a second 'cos your macro-ing while mirco-ing. FPS games are piss easy to play, RTS isn't easy to play properly.

I have used the net and the only thing I found was a youtube vid that doesn't work.

I haven't met any of the kind of people you are talking about, most here are perfectly reasonable. However I never really understood the discussion since PC games are superior in every way possible, not that console peasants would understand that, being they play with extremely dumbed down controls/gameplay.

Now you might be saying well consoles don't hurt anybody which is just plain wrong, I mean DA2 was a perfect example of how consoles are ruining games.

IMO, neither PCs nor consoles suck. Technically, PCs and consoles are actually the same. They're both computers. It's just the consoles are made specifically for gaming with absolutely no upgrading or changing of hardware. To argue this much over this topic, seems silly when you think about it this way (at least for me).

First off, FPS regarding mouse vs. analog: equal yet different.
I find both forms of controls to be sound. I thoroughly enjoy playing Half Life on my PC and I kill things just fine. But, I also have no difficulty sniping down 4 consecutive bandits while on the move with my hunter in Borderlands(PS3). Both work fine for me.

Second, PCs have better graphics over consoles: not all of them.
My PC is rather old. I can safely say that my PS3 has way better graphics than my computer does. Sure, higher end (hell, even standard hardware nowadays) can have equal or better graphics than any console. But, they don't have to.

Third, certain games/genres are better for PC/console: yes and no.
When I say "better", I mean better suited. FPSs are equally playable on both platforms. Many genres are generally equal in this regard. There are specific cases where one is just better suited, though everyone does has a preference. Although, I would have to say that RTSs are the most at home on a PC (at least until they find a way to make it work on a console).

Fourth, consoles are ruining PC gaming: no, PIRATES are ruining PC gaming.
A major reason why so many games are being developed mainly for consoles is that it's much more difficult to steal or pirate from a console. Many developers aren't too eager or willing to put a lot of time and money on a platform that has such a theft risk. Watch the episode of The Big Picture here on the Escapist on it. Bob explains the whole thing rather well.
So, if you see someone who pirates games and software, punch him. He is causing anguish amongst your people.

I love my future housemate, he's a great drinking buddy. But whenever he finishes a discussion by repeating the phrase "Well you're just a console gamer, you're not intelligent enough for real gaming" it makes me want to brain him against the nearest wall. The industry as a whole seems to be shitting on the PC audience as a whole with cheap ports, console exclusives and not bothering to even put out a demo I can undersand why some people dislike the success of the consoles, there are developers that still treat the PC guys right but a notable amount of the time we are the after thought and there is still a fairly good proportion of PC gamers.

However I do think that some PC supremists should put a sock in it, I really disagree with the idea that consoles dumb down gaming but I will agree that the PC is a more flexible console (what with a whole keyboard full of buttons and the possibility to access the games files) so it would be nice to have developers use this more often.
