i personally think that they are all talented people with a unique skill, and all they want to do is use it. i don't disagree with a lot of the things they do, i just don't always think its fair when they ruin some corporate desk jockey's life. espicially when they are only doing their job and have a family to support.

but hey, they always pull through with their stuff, and it never fails to fascinate me when i see them pull crazy shit.

To say they are pathetic is... well... stupid. We're all pathetic in some way. I myself support their views. Though sometimes I do tend to overlook things that would otherwise be seen as childish, but their major work is something to be respected (like their work in impoverished countries).

Anonymous may or may not have release names, addresses all that, in which they would have broke the forth amendment. We know Facebook has sold information to our and other governments. I direct violation of the 4th amendment, but I have seen more arguments talking about "Doh how stupid of anon for attacking facebook. Why should I care if the government knows my favorite bands." As of right now your rights are being taken away. People have died because facebook has sold information to governments including Syria, Libya and Egypt. But since anonymous is actually doing something about it people are more obsessed with attacking anonymous then it is with dealing with the current issue.

If I could see a end to the dictatorships and evil governments in general that would be great. If I could sleep at night knowing my personal information is safe, and facebook isn't selling other peoples information at the cost of there own safety that would be good.
So you want a "protector" on the World Wide Web? That's stupid in-itself seeing as it almost seems to be impossible to control the WWW, the information about yourself that you publish on the WWW is down to your responsibility. What you publish on the WWW isn't yours but rather the owner of the server accordance to their terms and conditions.

Your fault, your problem and your choice.

For example, put yourself in Sony's shoes, do you want your video game console hacked so that people can steal games on it?
First let me clear this up:
No proof of involvement in the Sony hacks -> the attack itself was pretty sophisticated, anon tend to be known for there ddos attacks which... eeerm... arnt sophisticated? Only in the last 9 months have secs within or associated to anon been using botnets widely to conducted these attacks. Before that your looking at individual computers and users (The very lowest, least sophisticated form of cyber attack)

Just let me add to this, credit card and personal details where stolen form random individuals. Please reference me one more event where this has happened? its not within anon's general ethos to go after people who arnt significant / a public figure or chase financial gain.

Next up: When did anon hack a console of sonys with the intent of stealing games?

If your going to make these ridicules claims please have sources and evidence, maybe a reference? Christ if i showed this kinda stuff to a lecture (computer science student) i'd be thrown out on my ass so damn fast....

How is facebook selling the information to foreign dictators my fault?

Yes I wish for a little bit of corporate accountability. Not just letting everyone go a dick around. I have stopped using my facebook. I can't make everyone else do that same.

I also find them really pathetic. All they do is go on and on about how they're going to change the world, even though all they do is mess with other peoples' websites and information.

What exactly is their work in impoverished countries? But a thing like that is something respectable, but being all self-righteous and delusional about their goals is just dumb. Shutting down facebook for a couple weeks won't do anything but annoy people who will then just dismiss anonymous as a bunch of delinquents and respect them even less.

BTW maybe 'pathetic' is the wrong word, 'lame' would probably be closer to what I meant because they think their logo and all that is so cool.

Look, if some guy says that anonymous is gonna do something, that doesn't mean anonymous is gonna do something. They have no leaders or hierarchy. Shit, I bet more than half of anonymous doesn't want this whole facebook project to go down. I bet out of the few of them who DO want it to happen, most aren't even going to participate.

I was waiting for them to assault Newscorp after the whole phone-hacking thing. Seriously, that just seemed like it was made to incur Anonymous wrath. Did they do anything? Not that I know of.

If you knew what you were talking about then you would understand why the whole "anon-is-like-V herp derp" stuff is dumb! you are the sort of people that should just talk less, and lurk moar.

I find their motives sometimes justified, but their methods and what they do is pretty pathetic. Add that to the fact that so many of them are just assholes and children hiding behind the anonymity of the internet...

Given what's going on with the Escapist, they might as well drop the DDOS bomb on us.....again.

That's right, Anon. I dare you. I double dog dare you. At least, Lulzsec gets it done.
Did anon say they DDoS attacked us. Seriously?
Pretty sure they did... They were getting a lot of criticism on this site during the PSN outage, and the Escapist and a few other sites got shut down for about a day as a result.

Anyways, Anon recently got called out at DefCon. Some of you may find it interesting: http://www.physorg.com/news/2011-08-anonymous-antics-hacker-feud.html
Interesting site. Quote from the article "Anonymous representatives, one in a toy bear costume, defended actions such as releasing looted computer data including names of police informants or credit card numbers on the grounds networks should be better protected."

Does anyone else notice how ridiculous that is? That's like breaking into somebody's home, stealing their valuables and then honestly believing you did the people a favour by pointing out that their security was weak and not giving the stuff back.

Truthfully shutting down facebook does people good, but what do I know?

What they did in, for example, Egypt was create an Internet Port (of sorts, I am not enough of a tech to give a description) so that civilians could tell the world what Mubarak, their dictator at the time, was subjugating them to. I believe they are also working in other countries as well as Dictators attack the internet so that civilians can't communicate with the outside world (By keyboard or phone). These type of things I respect deeply, as well as whenever freedom of speech on the internet is threatened on a major scale, Anon just happen to be there trying too bring it back.

I do not in any way support their childish quest's (except shutting down facebook, it does nothing but create Drama anyways, and needs a good slap in the face), but I support their ideals without a doubt so long as they do good.

That something....Really there is no escape, ISPs and government agencies (*places on tin-foil hat* NSA,GCHQ,FSB and many many more) gather information as well. For what purpose *shurgs* Who knows?

No, Lulzsec was the one that took us down.
