Here's a good metaphor: You know that fancy kid in school and is a prententious twat, and then he gets beaten up and his lunch money is stolen and everyone laughs at him, but when it happens all the time and the kid starts crying a lot.

IT
STOPS

BEING
FUNNY

Honestly i couldn't feel more bad for Sony than i am right now, it's gone on for far enough and it needs to stop.

EDIT: By "feel bad for sony" i mean how many jobs are going to be lost, how the economy is going to be affected and how much this will affect the gaming industry as a whole, this and the emotional empathy I feel for Sony's investors.

I feel horrible for Sony and i feel very angry at whoever were the hackers...
If they are thieves, Sony itself, Xbox fans, or anyone, it doesnt really matter, things like these just need to stop.

YES. Absolutely needs to stop. As well as feeling sorry for Sony, I was royally pissed that I got cut off from playing online for a freaking month. The fact that some jerks out there now think hacking Sony is the "cool thing to do" and try to jump on the bandwagon pisses me off even more.

Then there's the fact that every little twit who says they're going to do it pretends that they're doing it to "make a statement" or "for the greater good." Bullshit. They're screwing us all over, stealing our credit cards, and expecting us to thank them for it. How insulting can you get? Jeez, ENOUGH ALREADY! I don't give a crap about your "political reasons." I just wanna play my frikkin games in peace! ...wow. I have a lot of anger built up over this.

"Kid being beaten up" was never funny.

Watch the latest Extra Credits episode on this. I agree with what he said - this doesn't seem like the work of Anonymous. Considering that most of them are gamers, it's a stupid move to pull off. The group that's carrying out these attacks seem far more juvenile than Anon. Yeah, that is, in fact, possible.

As corny as this is going to sound, Anon actually stands for something. These guys, on the other hand, are just a bunch of assholes using them as a scapegoat.
If you're talking about LulzSec, they're very clear about not being Anonymous. They're just massive assholes who people are donating money to for some reason

Oh yes, I will shed tears too. For a major corporation that A: brought all this on themselves, and B: continues to spit in the face of their consumers.

Im tired of hearing sympathy for an organization with separated armies of lawyers, IT/security and public relations people. Its sad and pathetic a company playing blame games and trying to forcefully drum up sympathy for their cause.

Let us be clear. Sony is not, nor will it ever be your friend. You are nothing more than a potential sales figure to them. Please stop treating them like some lost and beaten puppy you found on the side of the road, because Sony is about as harmless as a rabid rottweiler.

Just watched it, yes Anon know when the lulz goes away and then move on to a new target, preferably something publisized by Nickolodeon and Disney.

I guess sony should get their shit together then.

i don't feel any worse for sony than i do for, say, google getting hacked [allegedly by chinese government interests]. That is, I think "wow, that is mildly unfortunate" and i may feel bad for those who have suffered because of the hacking, but i do not feel bad for the corporate entity that is "sony" or "google"

I'm sure they'll be just fine...

honestly, Sony isn't a kid getting picked on. It's not going to start crying because everyone is against it. It's a multi million dollar international corporation. This whole idea that we should be saying "poor, poor Sony" is moronic.
It was just a metaphor, and yes obviously Sony aren't going to cry, I just couldn't imagine being in the CEO of Sony and this is happening.

Well they lost like what? 3.1 BILLION USD? My god, just stop people. This is hurting a major buisness. If Sony goes under it will wreck the economy even more.

Oh, yeah! Forgot about that part! Lulzsec wants us to donate money to them in order to help them steal our personal information?! What?! Are they insane?! Are people really actually donating money to them?! The whole idea is preposterous! Just...WHY?! Argh...

I'm getting tired of them, yeah, but I'm not feeling sorry for Sony yet. I am feeling sorry for Sony's fans and consumers, but not the company itself. Perhaps they should have just put a few more million per year into security. I am beginning to dislike the hackers for a couple of reasons (Seriously, why are they doing this again? Was it the GeoHot thing? The removal of the other OS option?), but Sony is definitely at fault here for leaving such clearly large holes in their security.

They got $40 in the two hours after they posted the request for more money alone. I really just...people disturb me.

Their fans are getting kicks out of this and couldn't care less how much data is compromised as long as the damage warrants bold headlines.
That's pretty much the gist of it.
