It stopped being funny....I am confused on when it was funny at all. The first time they got hacked, the PSN was down for nearly a month.

Granted, we're getting free games out of it, and I next to never use online capabilities of almost anything other than my laptop, so it has yet to really affect me at all. I just hope Sony find out who the hackers are, and the hackers complain when they get their asses handed to them by the Yakuza (Admit it, that would be awesome!)

At least I have my 360 to turn to. Hooray for having both consoles! ^_^
Agreed! But still, this constant hacking serves nothing at this point. At first, it may have highlighted how insecure Sony's network infrastructure was but now, you're just pissing off people who have paid for a service that has been intermittent for almost a month and a half.

If I had a PS3, yeah I might care about the hacks.

Frankly though, Sony need to sort themselves out. They got severely hacked, which was bad, but now it keeps happening, because people know it's an easy target (or at least comparatively easy). There's blood in the water as it were.

Sony just need to sort out what they are doing and create a stronger defence against hacking. Hell LulzSec were kinda proving a point, showing how all of that info was unencrypted. It kinda shows how UNsecure these data banks are.

Yeah, if people want the Sony hacking to stop, perhaps Sony should tighten up their own defense mechanisms to prevent common hackers from assaulting their systems. A highly coordinated attack might be excusable, considering Sony isn't perfect, but that their system was so easy to hack right after a crippling attack just shows laziness on Sony's part, and definitely hurts any confidence their base may have in them. How can PS3 users trust a service that shows such vulnerability with their personal information?

It's Sony's responsibility to defend their software from such attacks. You shouldn't feel sorry for them for being unable to defend themselves against a routine form of attack.

Not really, they make surprisingly good conversation starters.

"So did you hear about Sony getting hacked? More than million people had their personal info leaked."

"OMG really?"

"Yeah. Hey, you have really pretty eyes..."

I recall once upon a time 'Anonymous' was attacking Scientologists, and with good reason, surprisingly.

Now they're just being dicks. You can hack my computer, you can hack the PSN, but I can hunt you down and kill you with my bear hands. And so can a lot of other people. And if you're in the US they can shoot you.

You're the only one. The rest of us are enjoying not being able to use our PS3s online. Honest question though; at what point was it ever funny?

Well sony should stop being such a twat and they will stop. (mabye).

In any event maybe sony should look at other companies like Microsoft and apple and ask, "Why are we the only ones getting picked on?".

Also I thought it was always funny, and always will be funny.

Not just that, but SONY could potentially go down the tube thanks to this. Despite the fact that lots of people are not PS3 fanboys, the gaming community would suffer a serious loss without this company. Let's face it, outside of PCs, we've got 3 major companies making game consoles. The less diversity, the less innovation. Competition breeds innovation, people!

uh...if a kid gets beat up because he is an obnoxious twat, but continually gets beat up after that because he never learns and is still an obnoxious twat, it may start to get annoying, but you really cant feel bad for someone who basically brings it on himself.

if sony wants to stop being hacked, they need to up their damn security. they were just hacked by a very amateurish attempt (so im told, dont know anything about hacking), so really, you shouldnt feel bad for them. if sony continues to sit on their hands while chaotic assholes hack them into bankruptcy....im sorry, its survival of the fittest; if you dont bother to defend yourself from a threat, then you die.

hackers are a serious threat, and demand a serious defense. until sony realizes that (and stops antagonizing the people who continue to beat their security), there is nothing to feel sorry about.

I never really thought it was funny in the first place, but yeah, it's really old now. The sad part is that nothing will likely happen to any of these people. Not the lulzsec or whatever that did the recent hack, and not whoever it was that did the PSN hack. These are the people who should be sued and jailed and whatnot.

You say that is if there are only two. Last time I checked, there's a third, and it also has a pile of great games worth owning and playing. ;)

I'm pretty sure the entire world is sick of it. Even bacteria are sick of this. I'm just sick of this story constantly coming up and having to be like "UGH".

I'm tired of Sony and I'm tired of the hackers.

I'm just tired.

I don't have my PS3 set up online anyway, as I don't play online and I am not a big fan of DLC, but I am getting really fed up of the hackers. I was fed up during the whole Geohot (or whatever he likes to be known as). Hopefully it's a wake up call to Sony to protect it's consumers details, but I am toying with the idea of getting an Xbox 360.

As corny as this is going to sound, Anon actually stands for something. These guys, on the other hand, are just a bunch of assholes using them as a scapegoat.
I think you put too much faith in them, they've been relatively moral as far as hackers go in the past but they still commit crimes and they have a history of using illegally obtained data to blackmail. It isn't like them stealing money would be that much of a step further than what they've already done.

Edit - about the OP, it's over now. PSN is back, PS Store is back... why are we still talking about it?

Nope still funny, then again I have nothing be contempt left for Sony and have never had anything but contempt for malicious hackers. So no matter what happens I gets entertainment and just maybe the big companies start to think they might have to think of there customers as more than cash cows they can walk over in the name of profit, probably not but you can hope.

They really like hacking, why don't they just create a sport out of it where it's defense vs offense, and then they live happily on forever just doing that.

Sucks that they have to screw over so many people just because.
