Okay, throughout my life of playing games, I've had 2 game consoles die on me.

First was my Nintendo Gamecube, things were going just fine with it until afew years later when it wouldn't play a single game for longer than around 45 seconds, after that, it freezes completely. fortunately, my dad called Nintendo and they delivered a replacement Gamecube for $50.

Second, just afew days ago, my Xbox 360 pulled a d***-move extrodinaire and refused to play any of my games, it would just go on it's reading stage for what meant like an entire minute before acting like I placed nothing in it. Now I have to wait 'till my dad can afford to help me get it repaired.

Has anyone else here faced their game consoles being broken?

The original Xbox 360s were faulty and it was known that that whole batch would RRoD on people within three years. Guess what happened to my first Xbox 360? I also had an original PS2 that ultimately got too clogged up with dust that it couldn't read discs properly anymore, but it survived with nary a single problem for something like ten years, if I remember correctly.

Its PS2 Slim brother works like a dream.

I had a PS3 conk out on me a few months ago. Pressing the power would result in one beep of it powering up, about five seconds of nothing, then three quick beeps and it'd die.
The most frustrating part wasn't the PS3 breaking, it was hearing those beeps over and over again as I tried to fix it.

I think I've been lucky enough to have no other consoles break though. Well, not counting my dad's Game Boy that I got hold of when I was 2 that I subsequently threw in the paddling pool for absolutely no reason. Apparently 2 year old me was an asshole.

Yes.
All 4 of my 360s have broke at some point, be it RRoD or a random day where it would refuse to read discs at all.

Aside from a second-hand Sega Genesis that died from general overuse that wasn't entirely my doing? Nope.

I'm probably jinxing myself here but nope. My original N64 is still kicking though it's starting to get pretty dicey.

One of my friends left a thick blanket on top of my (running) wii all night, and it overheated.

Also, my PS3 stopped reading disks, so I had to get a new one. I put the old one in my room as a netflix box...

I've had 2 gaming consoles die on me... TODAY.

I bought a ps3 cause I've been interested in some sony exclusives for a long while but never owned any of their consoles, since the PS4 won't be BC, I figured that I could probably get a PS3 for pretty cheap these days, and I did. I found one of the ones that's BC with both PS2 and PS1 and I was set.

HOWEVER. When it arrived it turned out that the Disk drive had died, while the console technically still worked, it was hardly usable since I already had several physical copies of the games I wanted to play. So I turned it in and got another PS3 for free. EXCEPT THIS TIME IT DIDN'T HAVE THE PROPER CABLES.*sigh* SO I went back to the store and they swapped out the extra cable for the proper one and I finally set it up and turned it on... Until it immediately turned itself off and gave me the yellow light...

So I'll be trading it in again tomorrow, and if that one doesn't work, then it's going through ALL the windows. EVERYWHERE.

I've had 3 Xbox 360s die on me. One got a red ring of death, and 2 of them managed to fry their graphics cards (and the warranty extension doesn't apply to anything but red ring, so I got fucked there). The kicker is that I periodically clean my consoles, and keep them in very well ventilated areas to prevent them from overheating. Not only that, but I had a launch console which only just died on me a month ago, and before that the consoles that died on me were Xbox 360 Elites, which Microsoft had assured us they had fixed so they wouldn't red ring (bunch of lying cunts). The only problems I've never had as many problems with any electronics as I've had with the Xbox 360. Can you tell I'm not particularly enthusiastic about the Xbox One?

Yes. Three broken Xbox 360s, one broken PS2 and and one broken PS1. The 360s broke due to the RROD, The PS2 just died completely and my dog broke the PS1 (and my copy of Tekken 2 which was inside it).

I've had a broken Saturn for years now. Many years.
My oldest PS2 broke; didn't fix it. Bought a new one.
My Playstation stopped working once out of me playing Final Fantasy VII nearly every waking hour for 2 days. It's still working now.

The first and last 360 I owned died a circular crimson tinged death.

That's the only one.

My PS1, Xbox, N64, SNES, and others all worked last I played them, even after retiring them.

The only broken "console" I have is my Gameboy Color, which has gone senile and as I mentioned elsewhere won't read my cartridges anymore (or rather, create save files).

My old xbox 360 took about 2 years after release to red ring, it got repaired. Then it Red Ringed into perma-death at about 2011. I then bought a slim.

Aside from that, no issues.

I had a SEGA genesis.

I left it under a lamp, it melted. I'm not fucking kidding either.
I'm a PC gamer nowadays, so i don't have any more consoles.

I believe I had to get a new PS2 because me or my brothers accidentally pulled the first one off the shelf. While my 360 has been running fairly well for about four years now, I think it's starting to die. Recently it's been really bad about wanting to not open the disk tray and seems to hate certain game disks because it will refuse to read the disk anywhere from one to ten minutes on occasion.

Only my PS2. Not sure about my first PS, but there was little point to keep playing on it after PS2 came. Might be still operational!

Was a sad day when the PS2 broke though. I was 14 at the time and not very clever. Tried fixing it by smashing it into the floor repeatedly. Eventually it wouldn't start at all. That's when I realised there was still a game in the console.
After plenty of fiddling I managed to get it out, but after all the beating it had gotten fucked up beyond playability.

I'll never get to know if you were a good game or not.
