They're like kids. clingy when young but when they turn into teens they want nothing to do with you

I think everyone here has been hypnotized by kitty cuteness too much to answer your question. They don't even need to see it. All I can say is push it somewhere next to you or something and hope it eventually learns. I had a cat living outside my house and it was insanely clingy. It was a lot of trouble trying to make it stay outside without being mean to it.

As many others have said, this is a good thing, enjoy it, don't complain about it.

OH MY GOD! this thread is made for me!! My family has six cats at the moment (yes six!!) and weve brought up about thirty kittens since we first started keeping cats. ok
1. BE happy! you are very lucky that your cat likes you so much, a lot of cats shun attention and are a pain to keep

does ANYONE know how to stop kittens being so clingy without harming or scaring them??? .. i googled it but all the answers are dead
2. A good tactic, I have a laptop and my cat always used to come and sit on my lap and be cutely distracting in a scrotum crushing incredibly painful sought of way, until in desperation I picked her up and put her next to the fans on my laptop which get quite hot, she always makes a beeline for it now whenever she enters the room.
3. They tend to become a lot less aggressive if you get them neutered and if you dont then for large periods of time his attention will be strongly held by other cats and you will recieve far less attention.
Hope this has helped :))

Anyways, kittens are clingy, but he'll probably grow out of it.

NAME HIM BINKY

We will hunt you down

Cats are very, very clingy. Name him Binky, then get a puppy and call him Doctor Hip-Hop von Snugglesworth, they'll sort out each other's species-based psychological defects
NO!! ... i named him chris because he wouldn't stop pawing the tv as i played resident evil 5 .. and he reacted everytime he heard the name called out

also thnx for the info every1 ... except that 1 guy that said put him in the microwave o_O .....

i guess i'll just have to submit to his will >.<

He's still probably getting out of his days where he always was either getting attention from his mom or playing with his siblings. He should probably get out of it by his next birthday at the latest. BUT CUDDLE WITH HIM NOW. YOU WILL MISS THE DAYS HE WANTS TO CUDDLE YOU AND HE BECOMES ENTHRALLED BY THE PRINTER!!!!

1.thnx .. but since i'm a strong believer of the "guy code" ... getting his love spheres removed is out of the question XD

2.awesome .. i guess i should consider myself lucky ... even for the first few days of clingyness i thought it was deadly cute .. but most of who answered don't realise that cuteness fades after a week or 2 of endless clingyness ... i guess this is what having a kid is like ... good practice ... i just want to try to find the right balance ... so that he knows i'm there for him .. but at the same time not his own personal playground

Not at all. My cat is eight years old and he's still very clingy.

Just give the kitten some attention and be very patient with him/her. :]

Well, imo , make sure to hold it, hug it and rub it's paws when it wants attention, this will be good for the future, and cherish the time you have together because soon it won't want that much attention.

Simple answer - Its a kitten, thats what they are like, just enjoy it.
Pretty much this. It probably is a good idea to keep him around other people, though. If he only hangs around you then when he grows up he might be skittish/unfriendly towards new people.

hi, i just recently aquired a 12 week old kitten because my uncle can't afford more than one cat and she decided to give birth and i'm now a kitten owner

he started off really shy and he wouldn't come near me at first ... but after day 2 ... allll hellll broke loose. i woke up and found him asleep under my shirt and since then he's been very, very, VERY clingy ... i can't get any alone time .. i've fully toilet trained him and have no problems with scratching .. it's just that he won't leave me alone

he's come to hate my D-pad and keyboard and attacks them whenever i pick them up as if to say "no!! attention on me!" whenever i sit down he hops right onto my lap and whenever i sleep he's there under my shirt or my leg, whenever i eat he's there on the table begging for food .. even now he's climbimg onto my arm and whenever i enter a different room and close the door he won't stop squeeking >.<

does ANYONE know how to stop kittens being so clingy without harming or scaring them??? .. i googled it but all the answers are dead

Cats tend to either be attention whores, or loners. Often there is little gray area. Cats are manipulative too by nature. Really all you can do is submit to it's cuteness.
Just spend 5-20 minutes a day giving him love,it will make him very happy.
