You know, now I am actually going to get the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2 since I can uncensor it. My internet sucks, so I'm not going to miss out or anything. Only problem is that Valve might release a patch under government pressure to stamp this out.

OK. This is qouted from another forum, but here's your fix.

Enable gore fix:
This fix can be run without risk. There is no chance of receiving a ban.

You need to edit 2 text files, and in future only launch the game via the left4dead2.exe instead of through Steam.

The first file ("steam_appid.txt") is found in \Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2 demo and needs to be edited ("590" to "510") (Sorry, no pics)





Second file ("steam.inf") is found in \Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2 demo\left4dead2 and needs to be edited ("590" to "510").

Also add this:
(violence_ablood "1" violence_agibs "1" violence_hblood "1" violence_hgibs "1")
without brackets.
to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\config.cfg

Well I wouldn't risk pirating a copy, and I suppose imports are checked as they come in so, all I can say is: "that's quite a pickle you've got yourself in chum!''

But it shouldn't really spoil your enjoyment of the game, a cheap gimmick doesn't make or break a game for me. The first L4D is nearly as gory, but I still really enjoy it.

Oh, and finally I just want a patch that censors everything Rochelle says, I can't stand her help screams when she's incapped. But Coach is awesome.

Internet quality is not an excuse, it's a matter of being a smart consumer. I live in Perth and for $50 a month I get ADSL2+ and 100 GB of quota. Better than Telstra or Optus.

Telstra is a *****. I pay good for broadband and they give me shitty 256k. Which doesn't even go up to its correct speed!

I've got L4D2 on disc, and I've been playing it, but, without the gore, its just not as good..
So (FOR THE FULL VERSION) has anyone managed to find a way to uncensor it? If so, post it here, or just discuss it. Possible ideas etc. :3

I've tried turning the gore off and it doesn't really make a blind bit of difference especially on the more difficult sections and settings.

Yeah, use the .exe in the left4dead2 folder. I recommend making a shortcut from your desktop directly to it.

I got the no gore thing too because apparently the amount of gore made it R rated and they don't sell R rated games here, apparently. I wish I knew how to uncensore the game but I think I'm stuck with it because I play it on Xbox and not PC...
The lack of gore honestly doesn't annoy me THAT much but I can't stand watching the opening scene now because they censored out when coach cuts off two zombies heads and a smokers tongue with a chainsaw and now it just doesn't make sense what the freaking camera is doing...
