Anyone have a DISABILITY?

I busted my knee a few years back when I was a firefighter... It probably doesn't count as a disability YET but it's a degenerative problem that will result in my having to use a wheelchair (T minus 30 years) and it disabled me from joining the army... Sounds stupid but it was my dream way before CoD... =P Other then that it gives me a bit (sometimes a lot) It also disables me from doing any sports which use my legs (I loved basket and was federated fencing player) so it kinda sucks.

I know it's not half as bad as what some people here have but in its own way sucks donkey balls...

Also it's a ***** sometimes not wanting to give my seat to an elder person 'cause I'm having pain that day and they stare at me and ***** about my lack of politeness... As if I was some kind of prick...

I have aspergers. Which wouldn't actually hinder me much if it wasn't classed as a disability. Now I have idiots who think I can't do anything, or people who think I'm a pathetic self diagnoser.

Fuck 'em. Aspergers has a way of showing you who you can really count on in life. I should know. Funnily enough, though, I never thought of it as a disability. I see so many things clearly that other people would ignore in favor of their own asses.

I have Asperges as well, and whenever someone asks me about and I explain about it being related to a minor autism they instantly assume that I am severely autistic and can't do anything myself, or i'm just bullshitting, which really pisses me off.

Genetic Aspergers. It runs in all the males, and maybe even females on my father's side, so I, my father, my uncle, my uncle's sons, (possibly) my aunt (she will NOT accept the chance for diagnosis), (probably) my aunt's son (aunt won't let him get diagnosed either), my eldest Uncle's son's son... Yes, it ~HAS~ been diagnosed by medical doctors, multiples even (particularly my diagnosis when I was younger and mother wanted to dope me up on Ritalin and Dex for supposedly having non-existent ADD or ADHD).

Myopia (near-sightedness). Take off my specs and not even a foot away I can only read things if they're in BIG MUTHAFUKING LETTERS (like a brand name logo) and beyond that distance it gets worse as my view of the world turns into blurs of colours. Doesn't help both my mother and father are myopic as well (though dad could read bus numbers over a mile away when he was younger, apparently).

Regarding the first one, I'm currently on the DSP (Disability Support Pension. Yes, they DO cover Aspergers provided you can give evidence) from Centrelink, which provides a fortnightly (bi-monthly) pay in order to keep a roof over my head. At least, until I get a job that pays and is full time, in an area where I can't even find part-time jobs or even temp or casual jobs let alone a full-time job.
(Don't even think about suggesting I look for a job where I can use my 15-odd years of computers experience and knowledge, I'd have to waste a LOT of time back in TAFE to get the papers to acknowledge that experience for such a job, and unless I can convince Centrelink to provide me an additional Student Pay (wading through DOOM without cheats would be easier) whilst I'm going there, it's gonna be out of my very empty personal wallet.)

Some on/of "anxiety" issues coupled with bipolar disorder II. Oh, and I have mild Aspergers too. According to the doctor, but I don't really believe that, just because I'm bad with people doesn't mean I have Aspergers. I get along fine with people I have something in common with even if I don't always understand most jokes/memes/whatevers, or what goes on inside someone else's head (who does?).

Atm, not functioning because of the bipolar disorder, but working on it. And it WILL get better, no matter what that stupid depressed brain says. But probably never quite as good as the hypomanic episodes.

Wow, a thread asking for disabilities and only like 3 people actually have one. Everyone else has some lame-ass civilisation disease that shouldn't qualify for anything - and frickin near-sightedness for fuck's sake. Are you kidding me?

Try being born without fingers on the left hand. I can't cut my own dinner (easily). People think it's either a miracle or I'm a genius that I can tie my own shoes. And I can still kick your ass in any good FPS.

Slight negligible impairments aren't disabilities. Modern "Medicine", honestly...

It's not like that, but I'm sure you realize that. I actually have greater problems with my hyperfocus than distractions.

That has actually happened on numerous occasions, but it's the hyperactivity that's the worst. Like I'm not in control, just watching myself being unbearable. Ritalin is my salvation.

I especially hate when people self diagnose and say they have this problem like OCD. When people say they have it , they may just like to clean a lot, whereas people who really do have it feel uncomfortable and do it to stop the uneasiness.

It is true, that most of these disabilities that some people have in thread aren't associated with major disabilities like unable to walk or even tend to themselves but nevertheless minor genetic problems can still affect our well-being.

Anyway, my language delay isn't a major problem and is not classed as a disability but in ways its affected who I am as a person but it will never be comparison to someone who has no fingers or lacks mobility in the legs.

annoying thing was I had a teachers aid throughout some of school...I didnt NEED a teachers aid I was just lazy

I can't walk without a stick and somedays my right leg is so bad that I ain't walking anywhere!
My right leg has the amazing ability to give way at any point causing me to fall over alot
(not too bad when you can aim for the sofa, terrible when at the top of stairs)

so yeah, I'd consider myself disabled!

I am dyslexic, dyspraxic and have ADD (these I refer to as my holy trinity). Not disabilites as such but they do have some impact on my life.

Was interesting being an english teacher for a year with my dyslexia, maybe not the job I was best suited for.

I can't run due to a surgery to remove a tumor in my right femur that I had when I was 19. They took out a bunch of muscle so I can walk and stuff but running is impossible for me. Long story short I'd die first in the zombie apocalypse.
