I've never had swine flu, I've had normal flu though and I felt like I was dying.
If swine flu is meant to be worse than normal flu then... well, you must feel like hell.

Get well soon. [http://www.rchmtayr.org/ecard/images/large/kitten.jpg]

I had it on my trip to Vegas about a month ago. Knocked me out for 6 days of my 1 month holiday. Was not fun at all. Worst flu I've ever had and worst timing too. When I got back to Australia they made me wear a stupid mask and stay one meter away from everyone in the clinics at all time. WEEKS after I had it. Ugh.

Do not get it, it sucks.

I have some kind of flu, i.e. have a bad head, stuffy nose, constant lethargy and a bit of a bad throat, but I don't wanna waste my summer moping around, swine flu or not. I'm just keeping it to myself and going out partying anyway.

Swine flu is over hyped anyway.
*high five* I thought I mad it, I mean, I had a mate round who had a sore throat, then the next day I showed some of the symptoms ie lose of appetite, pain in the joints, fever, lethargy, but it went away the next day XD

Nope, though a few people at my college have gotten it and been quarantined.
Really, all H1N1 is is a new strain of influenza. We get those ALL THE TIME. The flu mutates ALL THE TIME. There's nothing that threatening about this disease.
Except that the Flu kills people.
I'm not sure myself how serious it is, I mean, people are dying from it, but it seems to be because they recognize the symptoms too late.....as far as I know, and dont quote me on this, but theres nothing to worry about as long as you get some strong anti virals into you up to 48 hrs after noticing the symptoms...

Half of my brother's grade got flu like symptoms, although no one ever said if it was the swine flu. I haven't gotten it, and I am not particularly worried about it.

I was talking about the Flu in general.

Something like 100k people die a year from the Flu :p. However as far as I know its usually dehydration. No excuse for that in the US. You die here you were just damn lazy. Clarification: If you die of dehydration here*

Nah, hasn't hit my area at all yet. I am, however, getting quite confused as to why it's getting so much press coverage. I mean, I'm from the UK, so our healthcare system means we don't get many deaths from it anyway, but whats the big deal? So many people die from normal flu every single year, making the ones who have died from this seem like a drop in the ocean.
It's not just deaths that are important. If a large amount of a country's workforce looses 5 days of work that country will take a hit economically, a thing most of us can ill-afford right now. Not only do people stop going to restaurants, movies and malls, but people who are paid by the hour have less disposable income, since the money that would go toward priming the economy's pump instead goes into essentials like rent and food.

It could also have a staggering affect on countries who are in the midst of instability right now- think Iran, Pakistan, Mexico, etc. For example, there's a worry that it might spread through the Mexican Army, and thus reduce their effectiveness in the current cartel wars. Militaries are particularly susceptible to pandemics because soldiers often live in close quarters. Also, in countries that have drug trafficking problems, when the economy takes a hit and people lose jobs, they sometimes start working for the cartels in order to support themselves (since cartels always have a large amount of cash handy- dirty money rarely gets hit by the stock market because you can't invest it).

So even if the strain doesn't become more deadly, a widespread infection could have wide-scale geopolitical impact.

Real world example:

The economy of my home state, Hawai'i, is hurting because the Japanese government has asked its citizens to cut nonessential travel to the US. Japanese tourism is the basis of the state's economy, and hotel occupancy is down to 60%. I know a half dozen people who have lost jobs as a result of this... so swine flu is already causing damage, even without an astronomical death count.

Yeah, I heard fapping does wonders to your immune system.

ANYWAY, a while ago when people stopped caring too much about it, it was considered an epidemic.
I'm probably going to end up moving to Madagascar.
+10 points if you get the reference above.

I've got a cold that I was convinced was swine flu at first. Headaches, ridiculously sore throat, slight temperature, runny nose. But two days later and I'm feeling a lot better, just got the sniffles now, so I'm sure it wasn't the flu. A few people I know have told me they've had it, but I haven't come into contact with anyone with it, as far as I'm aware. I'm not worried, anyway, I had regular flu back in December, took a few days off work, felt awful, but recovered fine, and I'm sure it'll be like that if I catch the pig version.

You mean Pandemic II? The 'fapping' I can't place.

No flu for me yet, and not to get any time soon. Next six weeks aren't spent outside.

I woke up on thursday with it. Its a ***** since I can't walk around . Just would like to know if im the only one suffering with this here. Quarantine sucks as well.
I got a flu returning from Australia. It was never confirmed as swine flu but it sounds similar to what you've got. Anyway, get well soon and my advice is to be wary of stairs when you get back on your feet.

Normally I'd ***** about how it should be called H1N1, but I'm getting tired of repeating myself...

And no, I haven't gotten it yet. I hope you feel better.
