I'm disapointed to see that the developers of my favorite FPS's seem to have made a crummy game devoid of their usual humor and creativity.

What surprises me the most is that we're talking about FreeRadical here, and from reading the reviews and hearing 'non-reviewers' impressions, this game sounds practically half-assed and just unfinished (Example: The flame that comes out the flamethrower is just a red cone...that's like, N64 graphics man!!!) - the story is laughably bad (that is saying a lot for a video game), well honestly I could go on and on, but this game is only worth a rent.

The only strong point is the multiplayer, but it's just very basic, arena, weapons, vehicles, spawn points, now go kill each other! It's got a ranking system too, but I doubt this will be anyones next unhealthy addiction.

I havent played, but this was another game I was very uninterested in. It was just another what i like to call "Magic-Suit'em Up". another Next Gen "oh look at my pretty graphics" *Cough*Crysis*cough* with a dude in a skin tight rubber suit on the front *splinter cell* a suit which has some sort of super-power gameplay element *Timeshift* oh and characterless reflective yellow *cough* Halo*splutter* masks.

I'm not saying these are all shit games. in fact most of them rock in some respects. Splinter Cell is one of my fave's. but look at the cover art and the basic premise of timeshift haze and crysis, and i feel like i'm missing another one out. and you've got three practically identical games coming out in the same, what? 6 months?

why bother?

I've only heard bad things....

I was hoping for another wacky Time Splitters-esque game... I was sad when my friends said it was crap.

OK I'm kind of lost here, because Crysis was great and had a lot more than "look at my pretty graphics" contrary to popular belief - but you seemed to talk more about their box-arts showing super soldier wearing super suit showing off their graphics than the games themselves so I can't see your point.

(Oh, and yeah, of course you've missed some games, damn near every shooter is that way now, space marines in big ass suits of armor.)

I saw the ads for the game it never really grabbed my attention. Something about it always seemed like it was going to be bad and I'm not terribly surprised that it was.

I played through the demo.

I didn't think it was terrible by any means, just ordinary. For a company to follow up "Goldeneye" and "Perfect Dark" with "Haze" is like Ferrari deciding to make a mid-level sedan. Just kind of an anti-climax.

"Goldeneye" still ranks in my mind as one of the alltime best FPS. Haze just felt like a Crysis knock-off.

I'm with you. I have a sixth sense about whether a game will be trash and Haze walked right up to that sense and widdled on it.

Shame... I was looking forward to Haze. But then, I was looking forward to Lair... maybe if I look forward to a game, people should automatically walk away...

Don't you dare look forward to Fable 2. I have hopes for Pete this time.

LMAO! I know how you feel. I'm trying to avoid reading about it like a person would avoid walking under a ladder.

There's a handy formula that works with alarming frequency in deciphering the quality of video games from its advertisements. If they show *gasp* actual in-game play, it just might be worth checking out. If they show a lot of of beautifully rendered cut scenes with a gravely voiced actor growling lines like "Now I'm fighting back!" I call pass.

See also "One."

My brother bought it, beat it, took it back to Gamestop the next day and told the clerk that it sucked and the guy let him hand the game back to them and take another one off the shelf... I suppose he had also played through Haze that night and found it pathetically lacking.

Haze got lair'd >_>
There's a difference.
Haze's reviews are accurate. It's deficiency is ubiquitous mediocrity, accentuated by the recent overindulgence in the FPS genre.
Lair's reviews were not accurate. The primary complaint was the failure of the Six-Axis controls. They were perfectly effective, they just played a stale game.

On topic, I was not disappointed, because I had no expectations. I regarded Haze with my common mindset of pondering the quality, but refraining from any emotional investment. Trust me, satisfaction is infinitely more attainable that way. I played the demo, was not impressed, read the reviews, dismissed the issue.
