Keep in mind that unless you put A LOT of points into archery in Mount & Blade it feels VERY useless, I've fired entire quivers into a rampaging horde of 100 tightly packed troops and not hit a single soldier with a modest skill of 100 archery.
Then you're a bad aim. I've nailed enemies at max range with almost nothing added into archery. Mount and Blade: Warband has some outstanding melee and ranged combat that actually makes you arc your long-distance shots with a bow. With enough practice, you can pick off incoming enemy soldiers before they come anywhere near your troops or sit back during a siege and pick off every soldier scaling your walls.

While it's not an amazing game, Links Crossbow training is an archery bases rail shooter. Though as the name implies it is a crossbow rather than a traditional bow and arrow.

As with pretty much everyone here, if it involves a specific type of combat you want, Mount and Blade is the go-to answer for the foreseeable future. Easy fighting system honestly, but really satisfying and I'd say it gives a very similar sense of accomplishment Dark Souls gives, but without the annoyances you get from that.

And honestly people, if you're having trouble feeling like archery does nothing, you either have bad aim, or you're spending way too much time fighting the...Rhodoks I think are the ones with the gigantic shields.
