Anyone know the name of this tv series? solved!

I will try and describe it in as much detail as I can (which is not a lot)

I remember YEARS ago now, watching this program (think it was a step up from a cartoon, one of those computer generated things I believe).
It was about these teams of people that got inside these massive human-like robots and fought in a huge arena. It was set in the future. I think the idea of the plot was that it was some gameshow or something....

(Dont know if this will help, but i'm from england, so not sure if they aired it anywhere else)

Any ideas? I'm bored and want to watch it again xD

Perhaps a better explanation.
-- There were several teams of people(humans)
-- They got inside these huge robots (Like Transformer sized things)
-- They fought each other in this big arena
-- The plot was that they were competing in some kind of gameshow ( all fictional, not a real gameshow)

I was LITERALLY just going to say that.

It got a BBC-licensed game, they really thought it'd do well.

Nope . When I said gameshow. I ment the gameshow was part of the storyline. The Fictional characters were fighting as part of a gameshow or something. There used to be a big scoreboard type thing and they're pictures would cross off as they were eliminated. Sorry Should have made that clearer

Nope, I'm fairly sure they weren't giant footballs xD.. They were human-shaped robots that the person would control from inside and they had to complete different events.
