I read the book a couple of years ago and i loved it. And i've recently seen the trailer:
Personally i can't wait until it comes out but what are your thoughts? Do you think it'll be a good adaptation? If you haven't read the book does this trailer even make sense?
How apropos; my captcha is "Whet your appetite". That is certainly what this trailer did for Mrs. Makt and I. I have no idea exactly what this movie is about, except that it seems like there is some sort of a love story that goes across possibly thousands of years (primitive bronze-age people to futuristic Japan or something), and there is something real that ties them all together somehow. From the dialogue from Hugo Weaving's character, I'm assuming that this love is forbidden for some reason - some looks to be interracial, some seems to be homosexual and some seem to be class/caste/tribal, so I'm thinking these are just the pretenses for breaking up the lovers. Being sci-fi, I'm also thinking it might involve some sort of time travel, projecting that live back in time.
Or I could be entirely mistaken. I'm quite resisting reading anything specific about the book or the story until I've decided on whether I'll see the movie.
