Here's my band The Forlorn Watchmen, only got our older stuff on there at the moment but we're starting to record some new stuff in the next week..
Here's the Facebook Page and this one is the Myspace. Both have all of our (recorded) songs on them.

I'm liking it so far, listening to the GiantRaven I one at the moment (mainly because it had Minecraft on the front).

This is really good stuff, it sounds very slick and well produced. I wish I had the chops to make something that sounds that professional. I've loved a good bit of dark/ambient music ever since playing the first Stalker.

Dang, that's first song is some raw sounding stuff. Just how I'd like to be doing it if I were in a band. This really seems to be what you should be aiming for as a group. Your heavily distorted doomish/punky stuff works a lot better than what you're doing in 'Devil's Picnic', which sounds very goofy compared to your other songs. Your vocalist's voice works a lot better in a distorted environment as well.

Thanks a lot, yeah Devil's Picnic is a song which kind of carried us over from our previous band. The music we played back then could be described as weird- at best... But we've developed a lot more since those recordings.
Back OT, listened to all of the music on here atm and I'm really liking it- Raven, I've gotta say that Humble Beginnings is one of my personal favourite intros to a group of songs ever, really sets the mood well! My one criticism is that a couple of the songs get a bit samey after a while, but I know nothing about the genre so I can't say a lot really..

You know, I would actually have a full album to post but it's not quite done yet so nothing's online. If another thread happens in a month or two... I'll totally have content.

Thanks man, that means a lot. =)

Heh, yeah. If there's one thing I struggle with when writing a song, it's adding a lot of variety.

I doubt another thread will come along (I've never seen one on this subject before) so I say just post it here when you're done.

What kind of genre is it going to be?

I can't believe there are only 4 songwriters on the escapist. There must be some more hiding away...somewhere

Anyhow, I have another 4 songs available on my bandcamp page.

There is always this guy... [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/MiracleOfSound]

I wish I was but I'm more of a player than a composer. Although I make up music in my head, I just don't want to go through the hassle of translating it to paper.

I am currently starting up a band at my college. I am the singer, my friend is the drummer, and his friend (really cool guy) is the guitarist. All we need is someone to play Bass and some time away from all the work we have to do in college

Really like your stuff mate. First tune sounds like something on the end of an old Marilyn Manson album - brilliant!

I really want to try my hand at composing music, but I don't have any software that would allow me to do so. Any of you guys got any suggestions of what I should buy/download if I want to go through with this?

I use Guitar Pro 5 to write down all my music in MIDI/tab form, then transfer it over to Ableton live 8 to create the actual sound.

Having your band break apart sucks. My old band all went to different universities around the UK which was rubbish. It's been three years now and I'm still utterly bandless. I hate it.

Is 'Amass ne'er the Abscission' part of the aforementioned 'shit'? Because it's really fucking good.

Lol yes, it was the last song we made before half the band split. And I'm flattered that someone actually likes it. :)

The riffs are crushing, the vocals are gutteral, the grooves are grooving and the whole track is brutal as all hell. What more could you want in a metal track? The whole track has also recorded well also, the guitar track especially so, which is something I think your other tracks are lacking in a little. I assume it was recorded at a later time though so clearly you were all progressing as a group.

I think the biggest problem I had was that some of the other tracks tended to overuse the snare drum in a really regimented fashion, which is something that always takes me out of the moment when listening to music. It's probably one of the biggest reasons that I can't really get into much black or death metal.
