Anyone miss the older shows?

There is almost nothing on TV in the middle of the day, so I resort to Cartoon Network, a channel I used to love, but now I hate because of all the stupid freaking shows that are on. The few shows I do like are rarely even on, Flapjack being one of them (Yea I know, childish but the ridiculousness of it all reminds me of some of the older CN shows). I came to realize how much I miss the old shows that used to make me laugh my ass off.

I miss the old cartoons that had the darker humor and ridiculousness that is sadly absent from today's cartoon programming, which consists of some of the most asinine stuff. I loved the old shows like Courage the Cowardly Dog, Invader Zim (My favorite show of all time), The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Evil Con Carne, and a couple others whose names escape me. It's mostly animation I missed, not really any shows with live actors (although I'm really glad they started showing reruns of Malcom in the Middle, it's such a funny show).

I wish they would either bring the shows back or create new ones that could capture at least half of the best things about the old shows.

As a final note I thought the animation was phenomenal on the old shows, especially compared to a lot of today's shows.

Yeah. I miss the old days too. I would always watch CN in the morning. I mean I would always! But now I do not know what to do each morning. I remember Tom and Jarry one of my favorites yet. Then I remember The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy and also I remember Ed & Edd & Eddy.

Ed, Edd & Eddy was definitely a good one, and Tom and Jerry was the funniest shows I watched, and they showed it with no censors on all the imitatable violence, I loved it.

But I guess it's the same as RPG's getting worse...
I'm only going off topic this once, but I wish they'd make the stories better on today's RPGs

All these new shows came out and like took over the old shows. I think they should show everything. Now that be sweet.

Goddamn, I miss Courage The Cowardly Dog.

I won't be the last to point out the obvious, but all cartoons nowadays range from modest to commit-suicide-shit.

I've watched a few old-school Disney cartoons with the original characters. So far, they're my all-time favorite cartoons I've ever seen.

Other than those, fuck cartoons. I watch the History Channel.

I for one miss Dexter's Laboratory and hold fond memories of Cow & Chicken. As for the Nick front, Kablam! was greatness, especially Action League Now!, and what I've seen of Invader Zim I liked.

I think what happened to Nick was trying to be "hip." They made notable aesthetic changes in the channel (I can't describe them well, but you probably know) and introduced a bunch of live action teen school shows. As far as I'm concerned they've shown Avatar, which was great, and ceased to have anything good after that. Now for Cartoon Network I'm not sure since I just stopped watching it except for Adult Swim.

Sorry for that second thing, I'm just theorizing where Nick and Cartoon Network went wrong.

My Hero...
How the hell did I forget him? That guy is awesome, the show was great and, as far as I'm concerned, has one of the best non-classic Christmas specials in cartoons.

I miss the old Cartoon Cartoons (Sheep in the Big City was the funniest, most original show on TV, and I've always had a soft spot for Ed, Edd n Eddy.) But my true love is the old MGM and Warner Bros. theatrical shorts from the 30s and 40s (old Looney Tunes, Tom&Jerry, and Tex Avery's body of work.)

I'm rather disappointed that this thread wasn't about live-action shows. The two best sitcoms in television history aired when I was in diapers, namely Welcome Back, Kotter and WKRP in Cincinnati.
